Patient’s life is saved after equipment is flown 300 miles to the hospital in an F-16 jet in Norway

take care of their citizens
If liberal socialism can be considered the essence of what is good in man then Norway is the personification of the highest ideals of the human condition.

From the way it treats it's weak, poor, infirm to those condemned like Anders Breivik Norway shows the rest of the world the way to go. I agree with @Norwegian what many dream of as a utopian Islamic system Norway has it for real but without chopped heads, flogging and gender/other inequities.

And you can have some fun as well.

Yes, of course. Here in UK same type of thing is done regularly. One good example from nearly 30 years ago is the "Liver run" in 1987. This is 29 mile dash by Met Police in less than 35 minutes through London streets was last leg of journey that had began nearly 200 miles north in Hull. Watch the amazing but old footage. All to save a life.

Nice job!
In Soviet times, there were cases when for the sake of the one patient's life IL-76 flew from Vladivostok to Moscow.

Pak army/PAF etc do that often... We have a member here who was real anti Military.. His family member (yes a civilian) was evacuated by the army aviation guys ..

On topic .. Great Job Norway!

Hurcs, not so much anymore since one of the five crashed. But DA20:o:.

I'm surprised to see that considering what we use them for:unsure:.

I originally posted a similar pic, but I don't believe cargo pods are what's being talked about here.

I think there are actually small compartments under the wings of the F-16:

The article talks of "little used" compartments, so I take that as an assumption to rule out cargo pods, since they aren't of little use.

I've never worked on anything military, let alone a military aircraft, nor ever even been in the military, so I could be wrong too. But there's room under the wings and a lot of opening.

Maybe one's a cargo compartment too?

Norway’s F-16s are rarely fitted with the cargo tanks and it was an incredible stroke of luck that the jet was carrying one at the time, Lieutenant Colonel Kleppe said.

The ones under the wings might actually hold avionics rather than extra space to place belongings :) ..

What are you on about ? You were in my platoon in the Medal of Honor Allied Assault; as a veteran of Operation Market Garden with me you should know this stuff ! :tsk:

I think I've finally lost my marbles ! :o:

Happens when you're reading up on about Epistemology, Ontology, Positivism, Realism etc. for your research methods assignment on a beautiful Friday night (Saturday morning) instead of being out with your friends ! :(

Fun fact, the Bodø (the town the F-16 was flying to) Main Airstation's runway is long enough that an SR-71 once landed on it:

And took off again:wave:. Man I wish they'd come visit:(!

The SR-71 suffered problems after gathering electronic and visual intelligence around Murmansk:

Following its departure from Norway, the bird landed in the UK at RAF Middenhall:

A special tail art was painted on the SR-71 for the Norway to UK journey:
