Is killing everything your solution to everything?

Preaching non-Muslims about Islam won't work because they are not the problem.

When is he going to teach these finding to the extremist?

The world is not mad at Muslims but the World is mad at Muslims with guns and suicide vests.

Meanwhile......

Muslims worldwide have recently joined together to celebrate Mawlid al-Nabi, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. This day is an opportunity for Muslims and non-Muslims, such as myself - a Catholic - to reflect upon the life and legacy of the prophet of Islam. In this short essay, I want to share with you what I have learned about Muhammad and how his legacy informs my understanding of Islam.

Muhammad's beliefs on how to treat religious minorities make him a universal champion of human rights, particularly as it pertains to freedom of conscience, freedom of worship, and the right for minorities to have protection during times of strife.

Muhammad initiated many legal covenants with Christians and Jews after establishing his Muslim community. For example, in one covenant with the Christian monks at Mount Sinai, Egypt, Muhammad called on Muslims to respect Christian judges and churches, and for no Muslim to fight against his Christian brother or sister. Through this agreement, Muhammad made it clear that Islam, as a political and philosophical way of life, respected and protected Christians.

Similarly, in the Treaty of Maqnah, the Prophet stated Jews "may be in peace... you are in security [under Muhammad's rule]... Towards you is no wrong and no enmity. After today you will not be subject to oppression or violence." In the Constitution of Medina, a key document which laid out a societal vision for Muslims, Muhammad also singled out Jews, who, he wrote, "shall maintain their own religion and the Muslim theirs... The close friends of Jews are as themselves." In safeguarding the rights of Jews, Muhammad made it clear that a citizen of an Islamic state did not have to follow Islam and that Muslims should treat Jews as they would their own friends. In developing these agreements with his fellow Muslims, Christians, and Jews, Muhammad clearly rejected elitism and racism and demanded that Muslims see their Abrahamic brothers and sisters as equals before God.

According to Muhammad, humanity was at the heart of Islam. In my reading and interpretation of his last sermon at Mount Arafat in 632 AD, I learned that the Prophet fought against racism long before the days of Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. In the sermon, he argued "An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab... a white person has no superiority over a black nor does a black have any superiority over white except by piety and good action." Muhammad's final sermon informed me that Islam teaches Muslims to be tolerant of difference and welcome to diversity.

My research has also highlighted how Muhammad had similar beliefs to that of George Washington, a key founding father of America. In a January 2013 article for the Huffington Post titled "An Unlikely Connection Between Muhammad and George Washington," I examined how these two great men virtually shared identical opinions on social conduct, modesty, humility, respect, and even hygiene. In making these connections, it seems to me that Islamic values as expressed by Muhammad, and American values as expressed by Washington, are quite similar. Muslims and non-Muslim Americans can look to the example of Prophet Muhammad and George Washington as a way to build bridges of cross-cultural understanding.

Studying Muhammad has taught me invaluable lessons on the fundamental principles of Islam, but more importantly, principles of life itself. His treatment of religious minorities and his basic moral beliefs have encouraged me to further promote dialogue between Muslims, Christians, and Jews, and to improve my own everyday character and conduct. Without a doubt, my research into the Prophet's life has showed me that he is a role model for both Muslims and non-Muslims and that humanity can benefit from Islam.

Interesting article! That is why I ask people to do their homework!
I'm surprised that the forum moderators are allowing these kinds of posts, since its purely religious discussion in nature. I could punch holes in many of the points made in the post, but then I would get banned for insulting religion/prophet, as I have been banned a few times before. These kinds of posts are essentially flame-baits to get people who don't agree with certain religious preaching's..

Hi,

Thank you. Pakistanis think that they have to be muslims first---not understanding how Allah has created us----. Allah has created us to be humans first---show humanity---once you have these traits---then you can be a muslim----if you don't have humanity in you---you cannot be a muslim.

The good example of Prophet Mohammad and other prophets is in front of us----.

Propeht Mohammad was a great humanitarian before he became a muslim---all the prophets were great human beings before they were endowed with prophet hood.
Thank you for echoing the article!

I post an article on Islam and everything from Building Churches to Islamic sects and Muslim being intolerant comes in! Bravo to people who drag in incompetent stuff!

Thanl you for being one of the few to stick to the thread!

Why are we blaming mullahs and not ourselves for following them? When was the last time any one of us read about Muhammad....It took a Christian to write an article on the Prophet that too on actual work and what His Prophethood was about and how he led his life....

My question is to all those who brought in everything from their negativeness to personal attacks to irrelevant arguments for the of being shown that they know something...when the article is as simple as it is...About a man reading about a Prophet...not asking anything then why do some feel soo threatened?

AGreed!

OP is religious preaching and thus not factual especially considering OUR time aka 2014.

OP type articles are kind of catch-22 that Islamists throw around all the time.

If you accept them, it absolves Islamists of all the crimes and butchery they have done in recent decades.

If you poke holes in such articles, then Islamists will come after you with full fury.

peace
Not my fault people cant accept a Christian read about Muhammad and understood more than Fauji..
Reported for getting personal and spreading lies based on limited mindset!

Thank you!

How is it a religious discussion? When a Christian read about Muhammad and saw what he saw and wrote about it...I thought a Secular Indian would understand more :tsk:

Why do you want to punch holes and then claim you will get banned? Why must you even come to such threads? Is there some form of I dont know Psychology involved?

Living in assumptions seem to be everyone's pass time! Lovely isnt it when a proud secular person cant tolerate another religion appreciating a prophet of another religion :tsk:

The topic at hand which man have failed to realize is what Muhammad's life was not what Faujhistorian is derailing the thread to be!

The thread is not about Mullah...Just about what a Christian understood about life from reading about the Prophet...Rest is up to you!

eh? bro, can you elaborate that please?

I thought this is about the book "Understanding Muhammad". @Talon will want to read.
Now why would I want to read this:

The Jerusalem Post writes, "Sina, who runs Faith Freedom International – an Internet forum dedicated to debunking Islam – considers himself 'probably the biggest anti-Islam person alive.' His latest book is titled, Understanding Muhammad: A Psychobiography of Allah's Prophet In it, Sina suggests that the prophet suffered from a series of mental disorders, including narcissistic personality disorder, temporal lobe epilepsy and obsessive compulsive disorder. "These disorders," he says, "can explain the phenomenon known as Islam... which is nothing but one man's insanity

And he concluded this how? From his own limited research + neurons...With his "patient" in the grave for over 1400 yrs I am not sure what form of fame and what kind of people would read such a book let alone write it!

Every Historian has given his due respect to the prophet...But of course we always have the weird one who is an author and wants to a psych profile...that too based on a dead man...A man dead for more than a century but some people feel obliged to criticize! That is up to them!

But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]. [Quran 21:5]"

And they say,"O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. [Quran 15:6]

And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. [Quran 38:4]

And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" [Quran 37:36]

And they say,"O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. [Quran 15:6]

So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. [Quran 52:29]

Basically Ali Sina has done nothing new which people of the past had not! So bravo to the centuries old ranting!

I was told all over the forum that Islam is not tolerant

I was told all over the forum that Islam is violent

I was told all over the forum I am an Islamist

Now when I show them that I am not the only one with such opinion....1 such example a random Christian who just read about the Prophet can share my thoughts then why has everyone forgotten what they told me?

Why has everyone become intolerant to this Christian and have the urge to take a look at what he has to say and instead see the thread as a religious thread rather than a thread to encourage people to read about the Prophet and clarify their own doubts rather than me spoon feeding them everytime?!

This is in response to the guy wanting to punch holes!

This is to the poster who always draws assumptions on me...Not sure if I should get flattered that he bothers to draw assumptions on an online poster or be worried about his psychology!

Not the 1st time

The thread is not about Mullah...Just about what a Christian understood about life from reading about the Prophet...Rest is up to you!
As some have started discussing!

To make matters worse someone recommended this book whose link I cant seem to paste basically post no.41

From a guy who clearly exclaims he is anti-Islam! Why would I want to learn from the worst? Anti-Islam literal

Why would I want an Engineer to teach me about surgery? Makes no sense

your guess
dont know man.. but you are funny anyway...
ok my view on topic before I am thread banned...

The person who wrote the piece is an interfaith activist. I see an agenda here.. to bring people of different faith together.. while it is a good aim and I dont see anything wrong in that, it also means I will be a little suspicious in what he asserts (as much as I am suspicious of faithfuls)

Just went through wiki entry, which is much more neutral ( ya wiki.. I know what you are thinking)..
and the fact that as an Indian I have followed babas and godmen (unavoidable)... I see a lot of parallel between jesus and sai baba or siridi (the long dead sufi saint) ... and mohammed and sathya sai baba

I know both followers will be equally mad at me.. but here are the parallels

1. Claiming to talk to god or angels when nobody is around or only faithfuls
2. establishing a community of followers
3. using existing religion beliefs / figures
4. Using clever use of politics and opinion makers, and powerful people
5. leaving a legacy some of which is better than the person.. sathya sai baba has hospitals and charitable trusts that do a lot of good work.
