Regarding the naxals , all indians do know that they are not simply terrorists. They are insurgents. Their insurgency came into existence because of poor governance in the provinces. In the beginning the naxals used to be very idealist and gathered a lot of support among rural masses and tribals.But of late , their movement has got tarnished.
The ideals of yester years are no where to be seen. From insurgency they had moved to militancy. Instead of attacking a few corrupt elements of the bsystem like they used to, they now are attacking the entire system.They had already stated they want to overthrow the democratic indian setup.
Knowing this, MMS has said (only recently)that naxals pose the greatest threat.The operation Green Hunt was started only now not earlier because of the manner in which naxals transformed.And arundhati roy doesn't want the govt to tackle naxals even now. No body has any doubts regarding the poor conditions of the tribals in Dandaka forests.The naxals say they are fighting on behalf of tribals. But they are not just that.They are doing a lot more-trying to overthrow the democratioc set up.And there fore naxals must be tackled.
We don't need arundhati roys to tell us the truth. Our media, cinema enjoy alot of freedom and have shown us a lot of material about naxals-many times pro and many times complaining.While your history texts are juast your leader's wishful thinkings and hallucinations.

that arundhati roy has said something about naxals even though she is an intellect, doesn't make your guy wrong about indo-pak wars.They are both talking abt different things. Do you find the logic.

Somebody said.. there is no your way or my way there is only way that is right way... The guys you are mentioning on first line, they love Pakistan and that is the reason they analyze/criticize on all the aspects and that is the reason we agree or disagree with them...

People in second line come up with Conspiracy theories with Islamic fundamentalism to amuse normal Pakistanis...and hence not only us but world laughs at them..

Well Sir, being an Indian I respect freedom of speech and hence respect whatsoever Arundhati says about Kashmir/Naxals.. But let me remind you there are many "Pseudo-intellectual" people on both side.. They oppose a mass opinion to show their debating talent.. They will always write/print which will be their way not the right way.. apart from Arundhati Roy, Mr M F Husain (painter), Barkha Dutt (Famous journalist) are few more examples..

I disagree, almost in entirety. West Pakistan was the ultimately responsible arm in the break up of the state and the PA ruled for 13 years after which the state broke up. The main accused is in front of us.

Please try to re-read my post; like you, I have been strong supporter of former East Pakistanis and staunchest critic of the policies of successive Pakistani governments towards the the former East Pakistan. However, nothing happens overnight, and even for a catastrophic event, there is a tiny beginning somewhere and that was what I meant by the 'seed was sown'. The whole thing started back when Jinnah declared Urdu as the national language recognizing the fact that Urdu was the only language spoken and understood throughout united Pakistan. Soon after his speech, the Bengalis recorded their protest and demanded that Bengali should also be made the national language while totally ignoring the fact that unlike Urdu, only handful of West Pakistanis could communicate in Bengali. This hyper-nationalistic view did not help the relations of East and West Pakistan and right from the very beginning, East Pakistanis lost sort of confidence among the West Pakistanis. Mind you that Pakistan had just come into being and fighting on petty issues such as national language was not perceived as good gesture on behalf of the Bengalis.

A lot of problems could have been avoided by simply granting the East Pakistan provincial autonomy but alas, it could not happen due to the shortsightedness of our leaders including Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan.

Mr. Sethi is an apposite of what Zaid Hamid is. Zaid is an extreme rightist and Sethi is an extreme leftist or what we call a liberal fascist. I do not know if he is on Indian payroll but I would not be surprised if he was. Truth is never found on the two apposing poles, it is always in between the two.

You know qsaark bro, We faced similar kind of situation in early 60's when GoI wants to impose Hindi on all the states and they have given some 10 years for implementation of same but this kind of decision can't be implemented so early with such massive population and multi-lingual country. South Indian states started protesting and mansy of them burnt themselves, reason was simple 90% of jobs comes from government that time and if language will be enforced they will have problems to clear the tests. Hence they GoI has to called off this enforcing of Hindi as a national language and assimilated other languages (total 14) for such kind of recruitment.

In my opinion, West Pakistan should take such kind of decision to east Pakistan which make them happy with the language and autonomy..

The only difference between the situation you described, and the one I am talking about is, Urdu was declared a 'National' language not an 'official' language neither was it 'enforced' in former East Pakistan. English was and still is the official language of Pakistan like perhaps it also is of many former British colonies. Jinnah declared Urdu as a national language because he thought Urdu being so widely spoken and understood in the United Pakistan would act as a bridge, as a glue that would bring different ethnicities close and form them into a nation, a Pakistani nation. It is unfortunate that East Pakistanis failed to see the reason behind or they saw the reason but Bengali nationalism was favored over Pakistani nationalism.
