For Pakistan these days to go what Turkey,China and Japan went through during the early 20th century, will not work I dont think full scale Secularism or buying wholesale western ideals is a good idea
This is exactly why Pakistan will continue to suffer and beg with a passport whose value is right at the bottom list and next to Afghanistan. This stupid belief in Pakistani exceptionalism is the reason we will continue to rot. I mean think about it? what is so special about us? The Turks in 1920 had a far greater heritage then we can dream. The Chinese have one of the greatest histories on earth. The Japanese have the pedigree to have been the first non European people to become a industrial power and almost defeated US in WW2.

But we of course think we are too high and mighty to adapt and move forward. Result we will continue to stinmk in the gutter.

Who said we are exceptional I never imply we were ever that, we have societal problems we get that look I want what everyone wants a Respected Pakistan and Wealthy Pakistan with none of this mullahism crap we have today however your means to do it will backfire look at Egypt in the 1960s under Nasser they tried placing secularism and what not after getting their asses handed by the Israelis in the 67 and 73 and Nasser death in 1970 they fell to wahhabism because the populace got fed up with Nasserism

Again never said we ever high but if we need to reform the country it needs to be done right not progress then step back when mobs come on the streets like TLP goons and I prefer our populace to focus on domestic problems then Palestine when Those low scums cant even fight J,,ws despite the money they extorted from Muslim countries I will only care when Masjid Al Aqsa is attacked but some bunch of Arabs no

I disagree. I think the exact opposite. I feel we won't succeed until we have a completely bespoke plan. We are a different nation with a different identity, a different set of problems, different social structures and we live in a different era.

We've had enough of square pegs for round holes.. I'm not suggesting some obscure abstract peg, rather one that fits our specific hole.

Thats what I was implying in my last post, China,Japan,Turkey,Korea, and Singapore had different circumstances and were in a different era of sorts I am not resistant to change in societal mores but I understand one thing Pakistan has as you say a different nation with a different identity, a different set of problems, different social structures we need to rid the negative aspects of our culture and put a emphasis on the positives and perhaps a bit of history we can pull from the closest we got is the Mughal Empire

A few examples of what I mean:

We don't an identity challenge that the Chinese and Turks didn't have. They had the legacy of empires to bind them together, whereas our nation is more multicultural than that. We can't rely heavily on highly nationalist politics alone.

Another example, both those nations had the discipline of empire to fall back on. It provides an in built belief as well as societal constructs which could be repurposed. We don't have that.

The Chinese refer to thier period under colonialism as the century of shame. That motivated them to success. Our country is trying to own that shame and hide it instead. We remained part of the commonwealth, we adopted our colonisers ways, we've sent large communities to settle in those countries, we still look up to them, we even have laymen talking about the great British contributions... lol How can such a nation adopt the Chinese model?

I am sure there are ideas from within thier experiences we can use, like how Chinese addressed thier literacy rate in the 1949 education revolution, however wholesale copy and paste won't work.

The Ottomans missed the boat on the industrial revolution. They tried to march west with thier empire instead of into Asia and Africa. After that they were playing catch up and never managed to see success. Wearing trousers and replacing turbans with the Fez didn't make up for that shortcoming. Copy paste didn't save them, they had to reinvent thier nation.

We need to make our own hybrid.

In my opinion our focus should be looking to the future. We need to focus on literacy (especially adult education) and hi tech industries, with a particular focus on green technology. We need to contain the older generations and focus on empowering and unleashing the youth.

Is this Pakistani exceptionalism then? It worked for Turks, Chinese, Japs., South Koreans etc but we apparently have three legs and four eyes ....

. . .
No. Never could. I could never redact my thoughts. And thus I either would never win or get blown up while trying to win.

Any thought in the past you could make money consulting candidates I mean in the USA and the UK campaign managers and campaign consulting firms make big cash and impact politically

1-Lack of national identity/patriotism led to,
2-corruption led to,
3-Mullahism led to this chaos.
There is not much room for corruption if patriots(money cant buy patriots) rule the country,no corruption means, mullahs dont have a chance to infiltrate the government institutions or the Armed forces which means, the country will make the right choices and become an independent hard and soft power eventually.
Current Pakistan,

Islamic Republic with ridiculous laws(sharia, blasphemy, village elders, clerics etc).
Corruption from the top of the government to……..
Mullahs dictate, the people obey in the millions.
Yeah,i have a dream……..

No need to comment, its my opinion and i stand by it.

It would take another two generations for Pakistan to reach a point where somebody like me could possibly 'swim' in the Pakistani electoral politics. By that stage I will be long gone. The blunt truth is Pakisatan will never progress and I can say this with 100% certitude until it goes through a evolution or revolution to take it where Turkey is today in it's sociological formulation. Not until Mullahism is muzzled/dead will Pakistan become a developed country.

Unfortuntaley I am a product of Britain with Pakistani roots. Thus not representative of typical Pakistani's. My level of socio-economic evolution is more akin to typical Turk who have also gone through similiar maturation.
