first tell me what does best mean you?

if best means peace then i will go for colombo and Islamabad

if best means business and metro city then its delhi

if best means clean and beauty then this is islamabad

and so on

true....agreed!

Im slightly confused here because pictures have been posted of what looks like an underground system yet is labelled by Indians as a metro system, just for clarification does Delhi have an underground system?

On a side note, Lahore surely could do with one to help ease the traffic congestion problems that occur within the city.

The first phase cost just a little over $2 Billion. But that in itself encompassed almost half of Delhi. If the same amount is invested in Lahore, which is a rather smaller city area/population wise, and has lower labor cost, then it would do wonders. The productivity of people would increase manifolds, and the man hour saved would reimburse the investment within months.

New Delhi
Signature bridge to be ready by 2013

Delhi government's prestigious Signature Bridge project at Wazirabad finally seems to be happening. In her budget speech, chief minister Sheila Dikshit said that the construction for the R1131-crore much-delayed project has started. She also said that the bridge is likely to be ready by December 20
13.

Constructed over the river Yamuna near Wazirabad, the Signature Bridge will be a replica of the famous London Bridge and is expected to become a huge tourist destination of Delhi.

Interestingly, when initially conceptualised about four years ago, the construction cost of the bridge was pegged at R459 crore.

The project, however, was put on hold due to the October Commonwealth Games.

Keeping her promise that the construction of the Signature Bridge would be taken up immediately after the Games, the chief minister made a specific mention about the status of the project in her budget speech.

Hopefully Lahore will get an underground system but there are areas in Pak that also need an airport especially in the Northern areas so people don't have to go to Isloo and if they do then atleast have a connecting flight that goes from Isloo to the Northern area airport.

Anyone who is a resident in Lahore or just a tourist can straight away tell that the city needs to beef up its transport network as even a 10 minute journey can take an hour due to the idiots on the road and traffic. Punjab transport minister Mian Rehman should visit Iran and speak to their Transport ministers as they have a sucessful underground network and is absolutely beautiful. I'm sure Iran unlike other countries would help us out with the planning and enable us to outsource the work to one of our construction companies so they can gain knowledge in this field.

Problem is corruption within Pakistan as projects are given to people depending on who offers the minister the best financial incentives, btw that Wazirabad Bridge is beautiful looks a bit similar to Hangzhou Bay Bridge, hope the water will be that clear :P. Which building company will be carrying out the project?

Ohh do not worry, we are as competitive when it comes to corruption :P And don't you dare talk about the water of Yamuna! It is completely green... per the plans of building a 'Green Delhi' :P The company's name as it suggests is Signature. It has built some towers and buildings in and around Delhi I suppose.

The Signature Bridge across the river Yamuna is an eight lane bridge , four lanes each way, and has a harp shaped cable stay solution. The boomerang shaped pylon provides to a substantial extent the stress balance required for supporting the deck. It also contains elevators and stairs for reaching the top of the pylon, where a visitors gallery for obtaining a full view of Delhi is planned. The pylon shows two inclined legs rigidly connected to the deck which meet at half height. The upper single leg of the pylon contains the cable stay anchorages and the visitors gallery. The composite deck consists of 2 main girders and cross girders at 4.5 m spacing with 25 to 60 cm concrete slab on top.
