To my boot loving friends who are saying it's been the army that's kept us together, where was the army in 1971 ?

Don't think protecting East Pakistan was remotely even possible. Anyway I'd wish people would stop hailing Pakistan as 'such a resilient' nation. Resilience implies a lot more than just physical resilience. Your middle class 'educated' awaam are all disinterested in the fate of the country, our media sucks, there's absolutely 0 sympathy for us in alt-media, our dumb people still low-key worship the West etc.

1-Strong Nationalism in major Population and Power Centers of Pakistan. Karachi, Hyderabad, Central Punjab, Quetta, Peshawar, FATA
2-National Identity stronger then any other Ethnicity, Family, Culture, Group of people etc
3-Threat of a Common Enemy
4-Strong and Independent Security Establishment(Armed forces and combined security Apparatus) which have many Disadvantages but have a major advantage that it is not effected by any ideology or movement. No movement have been strong enough to challenge it. And that ensures Sporadic Cracks are crushed by force like Altaf Hussain or BLA etc. And only a strong Federal Political Government can replace this role of Security Establishment. Imagine if Pakistan had a Security establishment like that of Arabs with the fragile state of Political establishment we have.

Fighting on two front without nukes and popular support

How nice of you to skip to the middle rather than addressing the beginning.

Maybe Nazi Germany should be considered the real heroes of WW2 because they too fought on two fronts (in a self started war).

The current federation exists because it's a cash cow for the like minded elites, regardless of ethnic background. It's their beloved playground where they have an endless army of slaves worshipping them and guarding them. Where else the rich of this country can do their badmashi with convoy of cars and guards? Where else can the influential of this country be called "Yes Sir" every second of their lives? This federation is a heaven for the rich and the elite.

The moment any of the normal citizen gets a chance to bail ship they'll do it in a heart beat. It's an unfortunate fact but a fact none the less. If you think from the perspective of an average Joe who works hard to support their family, they won't mind swearing an oath to the Queen or a King if it means they get to live in a society governed by law and mutual respect. Think about it, most of us here are privileged arm-chair generals, why would an average Joe be loyal to a Federation where they have to face humiliation and inhuman living conditions while the influential and the powerful enjoy? This country, in it's current form, exists only because it is fated to be.
