What if all Chinese smartphone makers dumping Android

Like the screenless TV projector XGIMI h2 that has option on domestic and global software version. And a Acer computer with either Window or Linux option. I see no reason why a same phone model cannot offer the users their choice of OS.

Huawei has no choice but to go all out on Oak OS. However, others like Xiaomi, Oppo can offer international market users the choice of OS in either Android or Oak OS.

. .
I am not against Huawei or HM OS. Its the probability of other Chinese companies moving over to new OS which I feel has zero probability. Huawei has no option but to develop its own OS and from what I have read its based on stock Android OS for which they dont need Google's permission anymore. So yes programmers might not have difficulties doing programs for it.

The problem with such OS is, it wont have google support. Chinese might have Beideu for their search engine, maps, playstore, and some social media apps. But Huawei or its OS cannot work with Google, its Map services, playstore, Google play music, Gmail, Whatsapp, FB or twitter or US companies social networks. Whatever Huawei does anymore, its devices nor its OS can work with these apps as support will be withdrawn. Its new OS has to go through approval process again in many markets in Europe, India and many other countries again consuming considerable time without having all these important apps.

It would be interest of global community and Huawei to stop this bickering and do some co-ordination with US govt on this issue. Huawei also needs to come clean on its shareholders pattern.
Huawei is financially very strong. It's matter of time, they collaborate with Baidu and launch a series of software for international user for their hongmeng OS. As I say the migration from Android to Hongmeng requires little effort since they share alot of similarity. Companies very likely will make another version for hongmeng OS or vice versa.

People use Android or IOS phones for the applications. Nobody uses Baidu to search, we use Google Search, nor wechat but whatsapp. Facebook, instagram, twitter etc... if you build one without all that and hope people would buy because it is made in China, I don't think so.

If Android and Hongmeng are similar, would it possible to side load Android apps on Huawei devices?

In line with the trend of the market, consumers like to buy cheap goods. As a consumer, why is Samsung rapidly declining in the Chinese market? A large part of the reason is that his middle and low-end mobile phones are not as attractive as Chinese domestic mobile phones, and high-end mobile phones are not as attractive as Apple mobile phones, which has caused Samsung to rapidly fall to 1% in the Chinese market. All these changes began in 2013, Xiaomi mobile phone officially ranked first in the Chinese market, Samsung has been falling since then.
Moreover, the rise of Chinese brand mobile phones is good for the development of European and American semiconductors.

erhhh, of course haha. But Cnese IQ is low, they r just 1,4 billion dumb, uneducated peasants, so they cant make any good software without stealing or copying from JP-US.

Without licking US-JP azz, CN will go back to GDP per cpt 300USD/year like in 1979, before Deng came to JP-US and lick their azz
Ok. . . The high iq Vietnamese are not even a world top 1000 university, not as good as India

What is solid OS?

It is based on what?
Like the Android system, the Hongmeng system is also based on Linux.

If Android and Hongmeng are similar, would it possible to side load Android apps on Huawei devices?
It seems to be compatible with Android software, previously reported by the media.

What if Chinese dump android? It will be great news for non-chinese companies. So far all Chinese companies have done is assemble western components and software in their smartphones. From processor to OS.
The dependence of semiconductors is relatively large, and the ratio of display screens and other parts is relatively large.

You want Google to search, use some web browser ,go to their website and use. What is the problem for international user?

The point of Hongmeng is its 100% compatible with ALL Android apps. So yeah, u can side load all apps from Android.

BUT, I can see Google not making their software work on Hongmeng. Google and Microsoft have been at each other's throat recently making their websites break/not work on the competitor's web browser. Huawei needs to be on constant guard, updating Hongmeng to deal with the changes Google gonna make to try break their apps on Huawei's OS.

If it is not the highest-end display screen, China's domestic production capacity is also very strong. For example, Chinese brands account for more than half of the LCD panel share and about 30% of the OLED market share.

Thank you for reviving this dormant thread. I had forgotten about this announcement and never noticed its announcements. The OS is now called HarmonyOS and it seems to be available only in China. An arsTECHNICA guy got hold of it and thinks it is just an Android fork. Somehow, there has not been any coverage for over a year in English media.

Other countries should also be able to use it, I don't know him very well. It should be that the functional ecology is not as complete as in China

782,848,000 smartphone users in China

Just four Chinese companies account for 50% of global Android market share. Add in OnePlus, Transsion etc, the number goes to 67%. What if all Chinese corps got together and developed a solid OS & left Android at the same time?

It's not that easy, You can come up with an OS that is more efficient and stable than Windows, and Android but what you cannot do is replace the echo system that surrounds these older OS with a well-established app. and support base.

Chinese latest x86 compatible CPU is only 2 generations behind Intel about 2 years ago it was 6. going forward I am sure China will produce much better CPUs than Intel/AMD but it will have to be x86 instruction set or it won't work.

.
HarmonyOS will replace Android in the Chinese market. Huawei, Honor, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, etc will all adopt HarmonyOS when the inevitable Android ban comes into place. Apple will be finished in the Chinese market.
