What does China want?

Thanks @xesy for the translation.

It reinforces my belief that VN govt is still telling people to promote the anti-china sentiment and chinese-threat narrative to distract and hide their economic failure.

Taiwan can maintain its status however long they want. The moment it is declared independence, we will attack. It is under our constitution to respond. There is only 3 outcomes for Taiwan.

1. reunify with China peacefully
2. declare independence and go to war with China
3. maintain status quo for the foreseeable future.

#3 is easy to say but very hard to accomplish. As you may already know, a different regime in power can take Taiwan on the path of Independence. The Green Party, DPP, Chen Shui-bian almost took Taiwan that path until pressure by the US to stop. We almost ready to attack it had it not for the US to reign in and stop them. There is no guarantee there won't be another "Chen Shui-bian" in Taiwan again and it is why we have a few missiles point at it.

Yes, Taiwan is a great example for how a responsible Great Power relationship is managed. If Russia and the US had managed to do the same in the Ukraine, that disaster could have been avoided as well. Unfortunately, Putin is ex-KBG, and Obama is ex-clown.

It is unbelievable that anyone would take an article as such seriously.

Since Chinese mems talk a lot about how VNese economy failed. I have been watching the news for sometimes. Sure there are more economic relate cases than before, but a castatrophic failure? I don't think VN has reached that yet.

Respect each other core interest and there will never be conflict. This, we can guarantee, to the USA.

What is a castatrophic failure? Who said that? No one did.

You only need to take a quick look at the VN economic thread and see all those negative news and reports. Alarming debt rate, slow growth rate, mismanagement of SOEs, etc.

Achieving less than 1/5 of your potential income per capita is a failure. You may be happy with your average $1400 annual income but most people will not be so it's better to just cover it up with some other bad news.

The Haiyang 981 incident then the riot following it indeed put some negative effects on our economy. Still the news are still normal as always. Corruption here and there, projects are late to finish, etc. Sound normal to me.
And the 1/5 potential thing is ridiculous, IMO. If you have 1000 kilos of gold, and each kilos can sell for $100k. Does that make you have $100kx1000 = $100 millions? Of course not, Potentially having something doesnot mean certainly having something. If we talk about potential, then countries with abundant resources should have high GDP. In fact, African and Middle East countries should be highest on the list. Yet they are somewhere around the lower middle of the list.

you are clueless. anti-china sentiment is not new, but rather exists since more 2,000 years. the common folk is more anti-chinese then the government. by the way you are tooooo obsessed with the idea of VN collapsing.

no, VN´s GDP per capita is less than 1,000. I hope I made you happier :enjoy:

The answer for the question of this thread, well simply the restoration of the Chinese hegemony over the entire East and Southeast Asia, similar to the old order China had from the Han Dynasty until the early-Qing Dynasty... before the European empires colonized most of East and Southeast Asia save for Japan and Thailand.

I
The Vietnamese here talk about the dangers of "Chinese nationalism", however as I pointed out... the Vietnamese nationalists recently rioted and killed several Chinese people in Vietnam.

But Chinese nationalists did not riot and kill Vietnamese in China? There are plenty of Vietnamese in China who could have been on the receiving end of retaliatory nationalist violence, but there were none.

The official policy of the Chinese government is "China's peaceful rise". Yes, our Century of Humiliation will never be forgotten, but the Chinese government is not responding with nukes and missiles and millions of soldiers. They are pursing China's peaceful development, just like their policy says.

There is plenty of cross-border bloodshed all over the world. But not here, the most that will happen here is someone getting sprayed with a water cannon.
how many chinese were dead in the riot? 2 chinese workers in an incident.

ahem...have you forgotten Chinese policy in the 1970s?

invading Vietnam northern cities: how many Vietnamese civilians were killed? estimated 10,000.
firing ten thousands of granates into Vietnam northern border for nearly 10 years in the 1980s. how many Vietnamese houses and people were killed? a lot.
backing Cambodia genocide some 21,000 of Vietnamese descent were massacred.

or recently, chinese terrorists killed 2 Vietnamese border guards.
during the oil rig confrontation, chinese coast guard sunk a Vietnamese fishing boat and left the crew to die.

the list goes on.

or just some days ago, a chinese man killed 3 Vietnamese women in Quangxi.

No, you are worse than a nationalist, you are a terrorist.

Which we all know is impossible. The world is already divided by the West. To re-establishing a new world order, you need either a world war or a world level crisis.
