We are living in the era if hyper consumerism. There is an idiotic ad from about a month ago of the new iPhone 13. The ad portrays a delivery boy using the iPhone in his line of work.
@-=virus=- declared his utter joy for the ad without seeing that in India this phone starts at 69,000 rupees which is out of range for almost all delivery boys. In the Indian quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati there was a food delivery boy who was preparing for exams for the civil services and he and his parents lived in an under-construction building because they don't have money to live in a proper house. A promo for an Indian dance program had one contestant who was a food delivery boy but whose own food came from a langar ( privately-run community kitchen ) because he doesn't have much money. These are the people that Apple is seeing as buyers for their unnecessarily costly phones ? Ridiculous ! This is irrational and hyper consumerism propaganda.
