What about jf-17 for bangladesh airforce?

Bangladesh doesnt have money and i do think fc-1 has no alternative as cost effective option.

What is the comparison of price tag when we compare FC-1 or J-7.

As I know 14 countries are using F-7 including China but JF-17(FC-1) only by Pakistan. Won't this create any political disturbance in Bangladesh when it will go for FC-1 instead of F-7 when China itself never inducted FC-1 but using F-7 successfully.

Wow... How lame... JF 17 is cost effective aircraft for nations who want to replace their A/C with good 4th gen Aircraft. Now tell me Why would China go for that when he have J10 and J11, su27.....

FC-1 seems a good enough option for BD.
What other options other than FC-1 does BD have?

well Yak-130 and L 159 Alca, can certainly replace our fantan jets. I am not sure if these two jets can replace the other fighters

I think for that purpose they have L15...... Interested?

You are thinking wrong my friend. L-15 is a Lead in Jet Trainer meant for 5th gen fighter aircraft mainly. It can be (as like YAK-130, M-346) tuned to perform like almost all of the present 4.5+ & 5th gen fighter aircraft.

Even PAF do not need such trainers. but India sure do need something like that when they receive their FGFA. And by the way, K-8 is nothing like that. So, don't pull that into this. Im not saying that K-8 is not a good Jet trainer but it is not a Lead in jet trainer.

Yes, even I concede price tag of JF-17 is nice but JF-17 has still failed in marketing drive and China involved very little in marketing drive of JF-17 and this makes buyers skeptical.

Anyway I read about Bangladesh economy and it seems more stable when compared to Pakistan's. I believe they can afford little expensive aircrafts.

u can't upgrade an ant to match an elephant...

Dude, mass and capabilities are two entirely different entities. Here we are considering only the capabilities of the competitors.

I will request everyone to stick to the topic. We want to gain knowledge about needs of regional air forces and the aircraft specification in which they are interested.

I don't know about JF-17 But Bangladesh definitely needs to have a lot more Figther Planes than there current number

Dear brother,

Bangladesh is a small country. If u put a squadron at FOB Cox's bazar, Two at Dhaka and half at Bogra, that covers all the possible air routes. That's like 3.5 squadrons. One attack squadron is required at Chittagong as well. Total is like 56 multirole aircraft and 16 attack aircraft.

You do not need lot many aircraft to be in dominant position. You need some very good aircraft with twice the number of extremely well trained combat ready pilots for those aircraft. 48 to 72 multirole fighter aircraft is good enough for BAF.

last night in a military ceremony Sheikh Hasina told that - during this Gvt term 11 thousand man power is added to Army, they are going to buy F-7 and another modern aircraft....................

So guys Su30/Gripen/F16?????

You have not read my last post carefully. so, I am for your information posting again:

Bangladesh Air force is considering the MiG-29CMT/Lockheed Martin F-16/Su-30/Saab JAS-39 as next fighter:

According to information published in the journal «Jane's Defence Weekly», became aware that Shah Mohammad Ziaur Rahman (Marshal and Chief of Air Staff, Bangladesh), said at an international conference in London on 2011 that his country intends to buy 16 brand new F-7BGI fighter jets from China. Their preparation is expected in 2012. Details of the contract on purchase of F-7BGI aircraft, remained undisclosed. It is assumed that these will replace the outdated fighter bombers A-5C, now in the service.

Based on statements by the commander of Air Force Staff of Bangladesh, an improved version of F-7 the F-7BGI, created by a Chinese company, known as the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, characterized the best on-board equipment. There is a control stick HOTAS, three indicators (multi-) in the cockpit and one on the windshield. Weapon system includes bombs (guided) capable of induced by GPS. Judging from these descriptions, we can safely conclude that, in a sense, the production of the MiG-21 does not stop now.

It should be noted that the Bangladesh Air Force in 2006, has received 16 fighters of earlier versions grade F-7BG, who produced all the same Chinese company, as well as four combat-capable aircraft grade FT-7BG. A little earlier, from 1989 to 2000, the air force acquired an additional 16 fighters marks F-7MB, and 8 training version FT-7MB. Incidentally, today in the ranks stay single machine (23sht.) and 8 trainers. And all of them are registered for the squadrons of 35 and 5 on the Dhaka-Kurmitola Air Base.

According to Shah Mohammad Ziaur Marshal Rahman, the purchase of aircraft F-7BGI will be for a transitional period, because in the next 13-15 years, the Air Force intends to acquire a new generation of fighters (32). The options being considered is the MiG-29CMT, Lockheed Martin F-16 and Su-30 and the Saab JAS-39. In addition, the Air Force plans to upgrade 8 MiG-29 that were purchased back in 1999, and of course, buy a new trainer for advanced training in order to replace the existing L-39.

Yes we dont have US money but again we wont spend it all in one day... PAF have history of getting the best with the least...... And would be great if you can tell which parameters of an aircraft cannot change..... we dont need to change the full design of AC just because we had to counter a european A/C.....

Well brother,

you have 44 years in your hands to upgrade ur JF-17 to beat Euro fighter and Rafale. F-16 was introduced in 1974 and it evolved into F-16 Block 50/52 in 44 years with US kind of funding.

Good luck

BAF will then operate 48 to 72 Su-30MKB.
And BAF Su-30MKB will also have options by then for farther upgrade to beat F-22/PAKFA/J-20 .... if I may say like you are saying!!!

So, you agree that JF-17/FC-1 is way too inferior to J-10, J-11, Su-27!! Good, coz, J-10B is compared with block 40/42 F-16. That means JF-17 is nothing compared to F-16 Block 50/52, 60/62, Mig-29CMT, Su-30 and Gripen. And some of you Pakistani brothers comparing it with Euro fighter. WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Bangladesh Air Force is in the right track not falling for FC-1 rather go for some low cost fill the gap fighter now and F-16/Mig-29CMT/Su-30/Gripen in 10 years from now.
