GRIPPEN IS ANOTHER CHOICE IF WE R NOT INTRESTED IN RAFALE.

newer version grippenNG has been launched.this is an improved aircraft with 9 hardpoints and AESA radar.
SAAB had offered older version of grippen a few years ago but paf refused, dont know y and i think that the older versions of grippen r compareable with JF-17 thats the only why pakistan rerfused those.
but grippenNG is really a 4+ generation fighter.

PAF should look forword on this aircraft, because it is a single engine aircraft, not much expensive as compare to rafale and ef2000,it can load a large verity of wepons with increased external loading.

grippenNG is going to start its service in 2012-13 and will start its production after 2009.So if pakistan orders it now then our pilots would start flying this aircraft after 3 or 4 years.:bounce:

discuss it.

what a beast
but the main issue before was the USA engine in case of sanctions can be a problem.
also what is the price of each?

.
Gripen was rejected because

- It has american content and is prone to direct US sanctions
- Its a european plane whose owner countries share same interest as West/US so it might come under sanctions
- Current Gripen is a Air Superiority fighter, while PAF is looking for a Multi-Role fighter.
- Gripen is no cheap either. I assume it is more expensive than F-16blk 52 or atleast comparable

- Gripen current version was on offer. There is no news that NG is on offer. Infact, there was news that even current Gripen is not on offer when SAAB deal was concluded, even though I do not think PAF ever requested the plane formally.

- Going for a new platform like Gripen means a whole new set of logistic headache unless you got to really invest in it and look to it in years to come. F-16 blk 52 was chosen instead.

- Current Gripen is way too similar in size to JF-17 and not a medium weight aircraft and is air superiority not multi-role.

THEN WAT WE GONA DO,WHEN USE OR INDIA ATTACKED US AND AT THE TIME OUR F-16 WOULD B IN USE FOR OVER HAULING(MLU) AND WE R NOT GOING TO GET F-16BLK52 EITHER.WE DONT EVEN HAV J-10S.JF-17 STILL IN TESTING.SO WE HAV TO RELY ON OUR 3RD GEN FIGHTERS AT THE TIME OF DANGER.:hitwall::cry:

. .
I don't think Gripen NG would be useful for PAF, even it might be a good fighter, it is way to close at JF17 and J10. It has many parts of US which makes it not sanction prove, so it also wouldn't make sense to buy techs from them. It's way costlier than Chinese fighters, the latest offer to Dutch air force was around $70 million a unit (systemprice with training, simutators...) and they want to buy 85 fighters.
Rafale is even more expensive but all french, the best for PAF would be to get techs of it like AESA radar, avionics, or weapons.

Exactly that is happening. PAk building planes through China and adding radar, avionics ans weapons from hird party. It is happening with JF17 and is the planning for J10b (or next version) in 2014...

.
is it true that jf-17 would be operated with EASA soon.:woot:
thats a gud news:yahoo:

.
Grippen's price tag is 40-61m $. Saab mentions it as multi-role but its design is close to Mirage.
Secondly concern to PAF, I read interview of Ex-ACM frm this forum n i think its still burry in archive of this forum. He said that Saab offered us licence production of Grippen but PAC cant handle such advance tech. Grippens avoinics dont fulfil PAF requirment.

But Grippen is not suitable for PAf coz its expensive than F-16 BLK-52+ which has 40-45mln $ price tag n PAF is also oprating F-16s since 1983. Grippen vl b totaly new bird there fore time vl be required to train pilots.

Which AESA will be fitted on JF-17? I mean mention the production company or contury.

.
Hi,

Short memories---seems like we forgot the last air chief's interview----

where he stated the the Grippen was too much of a plane---paf didnot have the ability to absorb its technology with our current infra structure.

i do not think this is going to happen anytime soon!
JF will require structural changes to fit an AESA radar as it is a bit larger in size! also they need more power so engine upgrade or change MAY be required!

regards!

.
Grippen power plant is a development of US GE F404 license built by Volvo. US would never allow export of Grippen to Pakistan because it will mean:

- Either cancellation/reduction of F-16 Block 52 order, thus indirectly affecting US jobs

- Or in case USA decides to block transfer of F-16-52 to PAF, it would also block Saab Grippen with USA power plant.

Either way amounts to the same thing. Unless Swedes can develop their own power plant as good as F404, discussing the possibility of PAF acquiring Grippen is pointless.

DONT U REMEBER WHAT ACM SAID ABOUT THE UPGRADTION OF JF-17.JF-17 WILL CHANGE ITS ENGINE AND RADAR TOO.I THIK PAC IS IN CONTACT WITH FRANCE FOR AESA.
I DONT THINK THAT AESA IS A QUATIFIER AND AWAILABLE ONLY IN ONE SIZE.PAC WOULD GET SUCH AESA THAT WOULD B EASILY FITTED IN JF-17 NOSE OR THEY MIGHT INCREASE THE NOSE A LITTLE BIT.JUST WAIT BUDDY TILL 2009.U ILL SEE THE CHANGE AFTER THAT

THINK POSITIVE:enjoy:
