পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী ড. এ কে আবদুল মোমেন বলেন, শুরু থেকেই তারা(চীন) আমাদের অনেক সহযোগিতা করে আসছে। আমরা অত্যন্ত ভাগ্যবান যে, চীনের মতো ভালো বন্ধু পেয়েছি।
সম্প্রতি চীনের রাষ্ট্রীয় বার্তা সংস্থা শিনহুয়াকে দেওয়া একান্ত সাক্ষাৎকারে এসব কথা বলেছেন বাংলাদেশের পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী। করোনাভাইরাস মহামারি মোকাবিলায় চীন শুরু থেকেই বাংলাদেশকে সহযোগিতা করায় আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করেছেন তিনি।
গত সপ্তাহে চীন-বাংলাদেশ যৌথ টিকা উৎপাদন চুক্তির সন্ধিক্ষণে ড. মোমেন চীনা বার্তা সংস্থাটিকে বলেন, প্রাদুর্ভাবের প্রথম দিনগুলোতে চীন যখন কঠিন অবস্থায় পড়েছিল, তখন চিকিৎসা সরঞ্জাম পাঠিয়েছিল বাংলাদেশ। পরে বাংলাদেশ যখন সমস্যায় পড়ে, তখন চীন সরকার, এমনকি (চীনের) বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোও অনেক সহযোগিতা করেছে।
মোমেন বলেন, কোভিড-১৯’র উৎস ও কারণগুলো খুঁজে বের করার ক্ষেত্রে আমি মনে করি, এটি বিজ্ঞানীদের ওপর ছেড়ে দেওয়া উচিত। রাজনৈতিক উদ্দেশ্যে তদন্ত হলে তা বিপর্যয় ডেকে আনে।
এক্ষেত্রে তিনি যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের নেতৃত্বে ইরাক যুদ্ধের উদাহরণ টেনে বলেন, প্রথমে এতে রাজনৈতিক উদ্দেশ্য ছিল। এরপর ছবি ও ভুয়া প্রমাণসহ খবর আসে, ইরাকের কাছে গণবিধ্বংসী অস্ত্র রয়েছে। এতে গোটা বিশ্ব বিভ্রান্ত হয়ে সেটি সত্য বলে বিশ্বাস করতে বাধ্য হয়। কিন্তু ঘটনাক্রমে তারা ইরাক দখলের পর দুই বছরেরও বেশি সময় ধরে যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা করেও এর তিল পরিমাণ (অস্ত্র) খুঁজে বের করতে পারেনি।
পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী বলেন, টিকা সার্বজনীন হওয়া দরকার। কোনো ধরনের বৈষম্য না করে এটি সব দেশেই বিতরণ হওয়া উচিত। প্রত্যেকটি মানুষ করোনাভাইরাসমুক্ত না হলে কেউই এ থেকে মুক্ত থাকতে পারবে না।
