A China water re-routing project may not have adverse effects on BD. This Chinese project calls for excess Brahmaputra water to be pumped up from a vast reservoir on the other side of Himalaya and send it to the north through tunnels for use in agriculture. However, in order to pump up this water a vast electricity is needed.

Now, china contemplates to produce this power by allowing a very large part of this reservoir water to come down to the southern Himalaya, where they will build a number of hydrpower stations. Note that because Himalaya is very tall, therefore, the water will fall down a few thousand meters before it enters Arunachal.

Since China will have to send the water for a free flow downwards through its many power stations, therefore, BD is supposed to receive its due share of water during dry season.
