I am sorry sir but it doesnt compare, while Serbia was a fraction of EX-Yougoslavia, Pakistan is a strong and powerful nation a nuclear one too.. by confronting China and Pakistan the role and threat of India will be minimized what ever the US puts in, it won't be more that now anyhow..no dear sir
right now China-Pak can not totally relate to
but is comparable to USSR-Serbia of cold war
remember what happened to serbia
just like Pakistan can give a naval base to china in Indian ocean
Serbia was able to give a naval base to USSR in open mediteranean
and a little more penetration into europe
I am just stating facts, Canada did not like the Idea and got out of there very quickly after a few "exercises", Germany sent humanitarian troops, Auzis got out follwed by the Brits , the only one who kept hunging on was the US -maybe for opium and heroin?- they got hookedup- seriously, have you heard about morphine before, well it is extracted from pavot, and heroin also, they are both very expansive..and Afghanistan is the biggest producer of Pavot in the world , hence the morphine market..Taliban had put that production to near 0 (zero).. and got invaded!, hell, the US did the 9/11 itself for morphine! you nead to read an do a lot of research in order to understand this..You can't be serious. Clearly you don't have any idea what the atmosphere was like in late 2001 after the attacks. Al-Qaeda (and maybe the Taliban) were the targets. No one knew who Pakistan was nor did they care. In fact, they were largely portrayed as an ally by the media. At least until things started to go south and the US decided to get closer to India because of China towards the end of the decade.
I might also add that NATO and many countries including Canada invaded Afghanistan, not just the U.S. It was not solely an American venture as you are portraying it:
2001 invasion:
Coalition:
United States
United Kingdom
Australia
Canada
Germany
