Who would think that this is not possible now? This company seems to deliver on what it says.

Bangladeshi electronic giant Walton has aimed to export $100 million worth of 'Made in Bangladesh' labelled products to the world market in the current fiscal year of 2021-22.

Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited Golam Murshed announced the export target at a two-day long 'Walton International Business Summit-2021' held at the Grand Sultan Tea Resort and Golf at Sreemangal on Monday.

The Walton International Business Unit (IBU) branch has organised this summit as part of the implementation of the roadmaps in this regard, said a press release.

Setting targets of exporting products worth $100 million by 2022 and initiating other future course of plans for export expansion were mainly focused in the summit.

Golam Murshed congratulated the Walton's IBU team on its great success in expanding export market to developed countries especially in Europe.

Golam Murshed, expressing his firm expectation that the export volume of Walton products will reach billions of dollars by the next two to three years, said Walton products currently have a combined market of about 1 billion USD in both local and international arenas that needs to be raised to 10 billion USD over the next 9 years.

IBU President Edward Kim placed a set of plans about the implementation of the roadmap to achieve 'Vision-Go Global 2030' and future action plans to meet the export targets in the current fiscal year.

He said the export volume of Walton products was less than one million dollars in 2018 and 19. But in 2020, the export increased to 14 million USD and despite the dire situation of Covid-19, as new export markets for Walton products have been created in 14 countries, including 9 in Europe.

Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited Abul Bashar Hawlader, Deputy Managing Directors Nazrul Islam Sarkar, Amdadul Haque Sarkar, Eva Rizwana Nilu, Humayun Kabir and Alamgir Alam Sarkar, Senior Executive Directors SM Zahid Hasan and Amin Khan, Chief Marketing Officer Firoj Alam, Walton Air Conditioner's Chief Business Officer (CBO) Tanvir Rahman, Refrigerator's CBO Anisur Rahman Mallick, TV's CBO Mostafa Nahid Hossain, Vice-Presidents Abdur Rouf and Saeed Al Imran were among others present at the summit."

Way too ambitious goals. Don’t know if it’s possible to achieve 10 billion in next 9 years

Ambitious but realistic.

Walton is at around 1 billion US dollars now and 10 billion by 2030 is 25% growth a year.

Other similar companies have done this in the past and so let us wait and see.

Walton is doing its best. Let us hope it reaches the export targets. The quality, warranty, timely delivery/ export, and prices are important to snatch international market shares.

Walton produces household consumer goods. Many of yesterday's companies in Japan and Korea have reduced their production of many such items because when a country advances to a high level in economic performance, the cost of production rises because these countries' currencies get stronger in terms of dollars.

BD wages are very low. So, with correct quality, many of it its products will get markets in the western world.

from textiles to electronics . BD is perfectly following the path of s korea

BD may very well be the next asian tiger i

Thank you for your kind comment.

I think talking about being the next “Asian Tiger” might be a little premature as BD still has some way to go in terms of infrastructure and export diversification. However, things do seem to be looking good for another 10-15 years of 7%+ growth at least.

Thanks for the good wishes brother. Wishing the same for Pakistan - it's economics are going to be on a strong foundation if current rate of improvements stay on track and the infra and power issues are sorted out Insha-Allah.
