VK Singh in new row, calls media 'presstitutes'
NEW DELHI: Union minister General V K Singh ran into a fresh row on Tuesday as he was criticized by several political parties for describing the media as 'presstitutes'.

While the Congress said his comments were "deplorable" and showed his "insensitivity", the Left said they reflected the minister's mindset.

The remark, made in a tweet, followed a press briefing in Djibouti in which the former Army chief raised eyebrows for saying that visiting the Pakistani high commission was more exciting than conducting rescue operations in Yemen.

Singh is camping in Djibouti to oversee evacuation of Indians from Yemen. Apparently, he was taking a dig at a section of the media which had criticized him for attending Pakistan Day celebrations.

Last month, Singh had raked up a controversy by tweeting with the hashtag 'DISGUST' after attending the Pakistan Day celebrations in New Delhi.

What he said is true and it burns these Media 'Presstitutes' who are only out to make masala news and TRP sensationalism.A good slap on Media face. :D

. . .
It was totally unfair of a person holding such a high stature in the ruling govt to stoop so low not to mention him formerly being the head of prestigious armed forces. But then since its BJP and it's MPs that we're taking about-no much of a surprise! A perfect example of how being in touch with sangh can transform even the finest of gentlemen to lowly scums.

I agree with @third eye .. I dont think sanghis have hands in this.. some people dont know how to deal with media..
coming from services/police background, this is completely new for them. Hope they will have some admiration for the politicians that middle class loves to abuse.
Just look at how rattled kiran bedi was when she was under microscope.

You are either blind or you can't see through it every thing has a clear sangh agenda behind it. Here sangh is trying to badmouth the ever so critical media in hope they'll tone down a bit. One expects a man like VK to at least show some sorta respect to fourth pillar of democracy

they are middle class heroes..
we all think we can do a better job if we are the rulers, dont we. Especially middle class is under such impression.
I remember one of my mate in college used to say.. give me power for 1 yr I will change everything. haha.
And then my aunty said once.. is it not unfair that highly educated IAS officers say 'sir/madam' to people like lalu and mayawati?
I thought to myself, 'yeah you and your middle class IAS dream... you should understand democracy first'... but just smiled at her.

Really "VK Singh in new row, calls media 'presstitutes'"?

The title should be, "Times Now screws up again, this time by taking sarcasm for serious opinion"

LoL, Fourth pillar of Democracy or typical Yellow Journalism.
People are fed up with TRP based Sensationalism, trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill and neglecting the real issues.
We know how they deliberately ignore attacks on Hindus and vilify them day in and day out, while claiming India Auschwitz for Minorities.

One thing he is General of top notch, his job is to hate Pakistan and China.

Whilst the sentiment is not far off the mark there is surely a more diplomatic way of expressing this, as a former army man one can expect this of him- he is hardly a career politician (which is a good thing). He is doing a good job (see his work in evacuating Indians from Yemen) but perhaps needs to get a spokesperson to speak on his behalf, there is no point in giving critics of him and the GoI ammunition.
