Yes the British should pay its former colonies, because it looted and plundered the nations as they saw fit. They should not only pay for their damage fiscally, but apologize for their 'quenching' rebellions inhumanely.

british were hardly the first conquerers, there have been people conquering other places all the time in history. From point of view of conquered(natives) its just another mughals or mongols or arabs or persians. only difference is the europeans used new land they conquered to systematically enrich themselves.
So natives did nothing special, its the conquerers.
The idea of nation state is quite modern one, India was a big landmass of warring kings. There was no reason for them to unite and fight colonial power.

Didnt you read my first post? How is somebody responsible for the crimes which he didnt commit ? How can you blame somebody for something when he wasnt even born back then?
