Vietnam to build a high-speed train system

actually the vietnamese government had agreed to the japanese proposal. it was just the parliament, that found too expensive and rejected it.

I'm sure the members of parliament can be influenced in seeing the benefit. There is plenty of time, still. ;)

Soon enough, this will be in Viet Nam, buddy !!

Vietnam definitely should improve its transportation infrastructures. These infrastructures can be economic multipliers.

When other western countries laughed at China for build all those empty super highways connecting its provinces years back, but china didn't stop and kept at its plans. Now these same highways and railroads enable people and products move around the country easily and efficiently. The same can be done in Vietnam.

Whichever country Vietnam buys these trains from it must negotiate a reasonable amount of Tech Transfer so it can maintain the train itself.

I know you are the top. I read your trains are ever more on time than the german. and everyone knows the germans are wellknown for punctuality and safety.

Vietnamese transportation and infrastructure is developing very well, actually. :)

These are beautiful pics. Were these the infrastructure built by Japanese investors through ODA?

How many stations along the route? The planned Mexican HSR is downright retarded, with one stop every 40 km (to "reward" all the local leaders who share the same political affiliation as the ruling PRI party).

Infrastructure is also a two part process: land and sea. Japan literally has hundreds of active land projects now in Vietnam, but that does not include our massive development of Vietnam's ports, which we have increased to fulfill Vietnam's desire to be a major export hub in the coming decade. One example is Japan's development of Vietnam's Thi Vai International Port:

Just an example of the many projects Japan is invested in Vietnam. :)
yes, there are lots of infrastructure projects underway. many of the highway projects for example are partly financed by japanese tax payers :D

the stops are are busy business centres: hanoi, vinh, nha trang and saigon. I believe more stops such as hue will be included.

Yep, in 2012. Rice noodle in Hanoi was even pricier than adjacent Guangxi Province's one. Railway stations and downtowns of Hanoi and Saigon were colonial buildings
Beef noodle is abt 1,2-1,5 USD/bowl in Ha Noi, . Pls tell me how much it is in Guangxi Province's ??

LOL how about our titanium reserves as collateral? it is worth, depending on market price, between 1 to 4 trillions USD? the work should include vietnamese engineers. I doubt a rioter can differ between vietnamese and chinese workers.
Vietnam's titanium reserves hit over 650 mln tons---ASEAN---China Center

$60b is overpriced. too much for us vietnam. I would say we can go for $30b or less, similar the price thailand pays for the HSR to china.

really? normally you pay $1 for a pho. how much do you pay in Guangxi?
Pho 1 US dollar on average? I have been there in 2012, come on! In 2012 pho in Hanoi was pricier than 6-yuan rice noodle in Nanning in 2012.
Rice noodle in my city, biggest city in central China which has higher prices than Nanning, is 4yuan($0.65) without meat, 8-15yuan ($1.3-2.4) with different amount of beef (10 yuan/$1.6 has similar beef quantity as in average beef pho of Hanoi back in 2012).

In ShenZhen, a rich city of GuangDong province ... a normal Beef Noodle "LanZhou Beef Noodle" cost 7 RMB == 1.2 USD.

The same here in Wuhan.
Even in Shanghai and Beijing, Lanzhou Beef Noddle is just 8-10 yuan ($1.3-1.6).

I thought I would have some real cheap stuff in Vietnam, but it turned out everything was not cheap given the gap of incomes. That was in 2012. the price of rice noodle in Hanoi( in Saigon even more expensive) even for Today, I think is still pricy. You know Wuhan's most famous breakfast hot dry noodle has been double priced from 2 yuan a couple of years ago to now 4 yuan ($0.65) on average.

In ShenZhen, Wuhan's hot dry noodle cost 5~6 RMB a couple ... i love it !
