Vietnam to build a high-speed train system

For westerners Pho is quite different and unusual and we are not used to rice noodles, it really taste different than any western food.

I eat the local version that is typical of central Vietnam (Mi Quang) everyday and I never get tired of it, usually with snake head fish (ca loc).

Yes, I don't know how they do it, but they do it.

I can also say that there is quite a bit of people in Vietnam with a lot of money and quite a growing middle class in the main cities. This may not be easy to understand for people that are not used to Vietnam, but its true.

What @ComradeNam said about a lot of people running a cash economy that is not reported is true.
May not entire true but not entire false. There is no personal
I just want to comment on 1 point.

Its true that housing in Saigon (and Hanoi) its as expensive as Tokyo. For me, its a horror story that makes no sense, but its very real. There is a big distortion of land prices in Vietnam, its probably related to the government policy of how they manage land since all land belongs to the state, but I'm not sure.

When I was visiting Hanoi I was shown houses (they were not big deal) and they were million dollar houses; In Bangkok those would be $50.000.

Where I live, in Danang, a land plot of 20 x 5 meters within a few blocks of the beach is $150,000 just land. I have no idea how vietnamese people can afford to buy a house in those cities these days.

No, trains are just very expensive in Vietnam, any train, even that the quality is very bad.
State owned and managed of course.

Flying within Vietnam is very cheap, much cheaper than in China.
yup fly in vietnam is Less cost and more conveniene than train. In vietnam air route is more devloped than train. Consider many airports and air carier in vietnam. Something only vietnamese living in vietnam know. The ticket movie in is 150k to 300k vnd in vietnam about 8 to 15 usd. A starbuck coffee about the same price in U.S.
Yet the people live in city can afford that. If we use the person income a vietnamese $1000 how can they live? You can only find cheap stuffs in rural and suburban.

.
It is you that make me happy..
Pretty similar to me as we used to have such netizen ten years ago..
Reading your post is just reviewing naive post in the young age
He's in his early 30s, young but not young.

You only visited vietnam short trip and claim you know everything? I was born there and studied in U.S for years. Where did you eat pho in district 1? Street store? Go to a restaurant. It cost 120 vnd for a bow which is about $6 usd. How much a bow of pho in U.S $8.

How many cars in vietnam if you consider the car cost twice compare the same car in U.S. And people pay up front cash, not down payment like in U.S.

As for housing try to get a price quote in District 1 and Phu My Hung. Last I Check a decent house in Phu My Hung cost 3-6 billion vnd, which is about $150 to $300 in U.S.

You like many ignorant chinese in this forum, speak with no reality check.

In Vietnam you can only find cheap stuff in rural and sub urban. Not in cities such as Saigon. The income Saigonese twice of Hanoi and 3x of country.

You threaten a Chinese tourist that way, dude?

.
But usually we lost connection with relatives after 3 generation.
I heard that there is anti-Chinese action after Vietnam-US war..
Not sure if your uncle is forced to leave Vietnam for this issue.

For TPP, personally I would say it is still a long way to go.
Every country is trying to get best interests of its own but very sensitive of its weak industry.
Promise? they can take it away if you don`t follow their instruction.

no, actually the gin are vietnamese migrants in china. they came to china hundreds of years ago. my uncle came from hainan. many waves of chinese migrants came to vietnam, seeking new opportunity or refugee, especially after the collapse of the ming government.
you are right. TPP not only offers benefits but include many risks. but the US promises giving vietnam special rights, more times and more flexibilities to adapt the pact. besides, the pact is politically motivated. you mention china.

China does not want to compliance with copyright law..
If you fully cooperate with US for copyright, you are going to pay a lot..
Like auto, entertainment, medicine, telecom, etc,,
Everything will cost you a lot.
If you want to develop your own system, you break the so called copyright...
You earn tiny profit but buy expensive US products..
China don`t want to be that stupid..

China can't assure the compliance with copyright law ?

. .
TPP has very high standard which China don`t want to change for.
You get something, you must lose other things
like copyright restriction, high tech stuff, where developing countries have to pay a lot.
What developing countries can get are only low end manufacturing..
Japan is concerned about agriculture.
How could Japanese expensive agriculture compete with super cheap big US farms..
If Japanese lose the agriculture, they have to beg US for food supply..
Vietnam could get a lot of trading by joining TPP
But you also lose yourself to US. You have to beg US for order and high tech stuff.

China is thinking of joining TPP with special caution..
Anyway, China has a super big market and competitive industry.
If other developing countries can join TPP, why can`t China
Bcz China keep bullying VN, so we have no choice but to join the TPP deal . US also want VN to contain China for them, so they will offer VN some good benefits in the TPP deal. Thats the win-win cooperation to take down China economy.

And VN is not an 'Yes-man' of US like JP-Aussie, so if we dont like the deal, we just simply jump out, no one can force us to join back :pop:
