It's not 1979 now, so why not attack China? IT has loads of resources and is rich land now oh wait Viets was always and will always be a coward because not a single Viet is totally out of their freaking mind to launch a war against China.

I don't really care about Vietnam-China tensions, but I know this: Almost every single country US intervened militarily, it killed thousands of civilians directly and indirectly and turned the place into a shithole. If I was Vietnam, I wouldn't invite US to the area. And what is US going to do? Launch war against China? Hell they won't. Vietnam-China tensions can only solved by Vietnam and China, that's it, US military will make everything worse, as always.

From this post, I can tell you know jackshit about the Vietnam War overall.

But put aside history for now, which would overwhelm what little knowledge you possess, while today's Vietnamese are not ignorant about the Vietnam War, neither are they shackled by it, as how you would like them to be. If you expect the Viets not to forget US involvement in Viet Nam, then you better expect the Viets not to forget China's much more historical involvement in Viet Nam, and they were not good.

If you want to weigh base on history, then the US is the better choice. And to date, the Viets recognized that. You do not know as much as you think, kid.

China have land that Vietnam may want to take back. Ai Nam Quan Gate was ceded to China after 1979 war. Don't look like victory to me if Vietnam have to cede land to China.

Moreover, from wikipedia it states that "In fact, Chinese troops occupied an area of 60 square kilometres (23 sq mi), which was disputed land controlled by Vietnam before hostilities broke out.In some places such as the area around Friendship Gate near the city of Lạng Sơn, Chinese troops occupied territories which have no military value but important symbolic value." Those territories are exactly the lands that ceded to China and it also mentions there were several series of fights between the two sides to gain control of those territories until 1988, which is unlike some members said here, Vietnam did fight back but clearly unable to take back those disputed land.
