Vietnam fooling no one in maritime dispute

It is different between american indian and north vietnam, the former was independent at the very beginning, while the former was a part of china, not colonized, just a part of china, so, vietnamese was historically being chinese during the time.
if the ruling of ancient china gov. was not perfect, then it is not only done to the vietnamese, but all chinese. stop the lies and the legend that china invaded vietnam 16 times.
in advance, stop talking about your hung king legend based so-called history as viet-indenpendence proof, it is no more than a myth.
vietnam getting independence is not because vietnamese was a great people, just because the mercy of chinese, and being tired of vietnamese' non-domesticatable and ingratitude nature.

just think about your people, your country and your history, what did you ever make a least contribution to the human kind civilization remarkably? without being a part of china any more, without being chinese any more, you are nothing.

really? ALL vietnamese map before 1974 destroyed due to the war? our viet friends must think all the world has the lowest IQ as theirs. haha

Never said or meant anything like that. International water and EEZ and stuffs were invented in the last 100 years, who care about where ancient Chinese worked? We say that China illegaly claims SCS, that's all. Don't tell me all Chinese believe in the 9 line dash map.

Prove that to the American Idian, or the Atzec. Did they asked to be civilized by Western nations? When civilizations clash, only one comes out, too bad Vietnam early culture did not survive. That's history, I have no complaint. But don't you act like ancient Chinese were the savior of Vietnam and feel superior about that.

Well, rebelling for more than 1000 years is enough for us to be an independent country now. And you took Vietnam too lightly. As one of the first colonies rebeled against the West, Vietnam sure was known before the war with US.

Well acroding to UNCLOS, the rig is on our EEZ.

And as for no maps before 1974, we have the pefect reason: destroyed during wars. The US bombed major North Vietnamese cities until 1972 so there you go: nice and sound reason.

.
from a sense of the history, viet nam is still a rebelling province of china.
china was the most powerful, the most civilized, the most advanced entity for the most time of past two thousand years.
being a province of china, enjoying full glory of the empire, either the former 1000 years, and the latter 1000 years, you said it is 'dark age', so, it was not dark after viet was colonized by france. being a poor, low-developed country, enjoying high CPI, now becomes a bright age? tell you the truth, without killed millions of people during the viet war, most western people don't know who the vietnam is.
in very very old times, the borderlines were ambiguous in land, needless to say the sea. but poor vietnamese should not be the people to sail so far, right?
there are three stages for viet history,
one, being a part of china
two, being a dependent country of china
three, being a colony of france
so, let's check the history as viet was really divided from china, when france grabbed the viet from china, there is a treaty in 1887 between china and fance to determine vietnam sea should not be more east far from longitude 108 degree east.
so, maybe the law to determine that SCS belongs to china is not perfect, but SCS absolutely has nothing with viet!

Chinese were invaders, we kicked your ***, your ancestors ran back to China.

show documents of champa king, not their vietnamized descendent, please
sorry, i forget, champa kindom also was a dependent country of china ...

When you forgot, don't troll nonsense.

Champa was Yuechang, one commendatory of Van Lang, ancient Kingdom of Viets.

Things lost in war is a sound theory over-used by every nations around the world. Check the lost arts in WW2. 10,000 pieces gone forever without a clue.

Before ancient Chinese came and conquered Vietnam, we had our own kings and stuffs. China also believe in legends like 3 Emperors and 5 Kings, or an Emperor seduced by an evil fox and destroyed his country. Myths are part of the culture, there are facts behind every myth.

And ancient China did invaded Vietnam, even modern China did once. Your so called "Counter Offensive" war was fought on Vietnam land. You want to disagree, show me any proofs that there were major battles and damages to China border cities.

Using your logic, then Africa and South America countries are not worth existing? No matter how small, we contribute a piece to the whole picture of the world. Stop being so self-centered. There are powerful and weak nations, but their people are the same. We are all human, so respect each other.

viet didn't have kings before being a part of china, only fabricated legend to show separation from china was reasonable.
so-called van lang, hung king of viet, are totally different from three-emperor-and-five-emeror of china, which was proposed right before 2200 years. the viet legend about the early history were proven human-made by modern viet nationalists to encourage viet people to get freedom from the rule of france without any archaeological basis and cross verification of related ancient literatures.

as viet being a part of china, rebels should be put down, that's not invading. just like north viet eliminated south viet in 1974.
as viet become a dependent state of china around 10 century, every time, china army entering viet was because got invitation from specific vietnamese.
in total, china never invaded viet nam from the very beginning to the very latest days.

in 1979, because viet gov. intentionally persecuted chinese-vietnamese and invaded cambodia, so that china had to give a good lesson to viet to let it know what is the justice.
i feel sorry, nearly 40 years passed, somebody begin to forget how serious a lesson it is.

Ah, the battle of Hoang Sa. It makes for an interesting read in that the backward style of naval combat took place in the 70s!
Soldiers lobbing grenades onto the decks of Vietnamese ships while the main guns of the Vietnamese corvettes proved useless because they were using armour piercing shells against the thin metal and even wooden Chinese vessels.

Vietnamese fishermen reportedly paid to go to disputed waters
CCTV.com

A report from a Vietnamese TV station has revealed why the country’s fishermen would risk confrontation with Chinese boats to fish in disputed waters in the South China Sea.

According to the VTV report, fishermen claim that they have received both money and assurance that fishery authorities in Vietnam stand ready to help when they face trouble from Chinese authorities.

The German news agency DPA has quoted a Vietnamese fishery official as saying that Vietnam plans to spend 760 million dollars to reinforce what it calls "law enforcement capabilities on the sea."

The money will provide new patrol facilities for the Vietnamese coast guard, and boats for the fishermen.

According to Vietnam’s VTV, these fishermen have just returned from a trip in waters around China’s Nansha and Xisha Islands. Despite their humble harvest, they say they’ll continue to fish in those areas.

"Normally we get money from the government. For example, if we go to Nansha and Xisha islands, we get our oil money paid." Vietnamese fisherman said.

The fishermen add they’re not worried about losing money because of government subsidies. In terms of safety concerns, they say Vietnamese law enforcement vessels have promised to help once they, quote "get into trouble". It is estimated that 2,000 boats are engaged in such government-led fishing activities a practice that has been criticized by some Vietnamese as using the fishermen as scapegoats in territorial conflicts.

Earlier, Japanese reporters were invited onto Vietnamese patrol ships as they conducted so-called law enforcement activities near the Chinese drilling rig. The reporters say they were told that Chinese vessels had rammed Vietnamese boats multiple times a claim refuted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying urges Vietnam to stop its provocations immediately.
