Vietnam devalues currency by 8.5 percent

Some white dude who went to my school and can speak Mandarin flawlessly.....

I say so fing what. I speak perfect English, you don't see the CBC inviting me to appear on television.

He went to your school? LOL, small world and all that.

English is the international language though, while Chinese language has until very recently been very insular. Check out the laowai in Hong Kong and try talking to them in Chinese, most won't understand anything you say.

The problem with African immigrants to China is the same problem countries like US or Canada face. The immigrants live in closed communities that doesn't integrate well into mainstream society. Hence 巧克力城. I think China should do more to interact with greater society and pick immigrants who are more likely to do well in China.

According to Chinese law, they should be repatriated. And the Chinese people do not do that. We allow them to make money, let them go home after they become rich. We put them as friend.
But they get an inch, want a foot. They besieged the police station to blackmail give them citizenship. Guangdong is mine? or their?

Most of them are there to make a quick dollar, kick them out, no sympathy but the people who try to fit into Chinese society (there are some people who really try), we should give them a chance.

Maybe a Chinese language test should to be used.

Just tighten the entry requirements. Hong Kong for example only lets people in if they are highly skilled or have family members here.

China has too many people, We even family planning to solve the population problem.
And into the Chinese society is very difficult. We speak Chinese, They speak English or French or Arabic; We hate Narcotics, They drug trafficking, etc.

We need to devalute the Dong to boost export. Boosting export will allow us to earn the foriegn currency mainly the USD. If you guys don't know, if you're an ordinary citizen and you try to buy foriegn currency (mostly USD) from the banks in Vietnam............it is almost mission impossible; the banks do not sell you the USD; the banks simply tell you to .......get lost

Vietnam is really thirsty for the USD currency because it is a universal currency that you can use as a form of payment to every country in the world. Even private businesses in Vietnam are having an extremely tough time trying to buy the USD. That's why if you're a tourist when you go to Vietnam, you can exchange your USD at the private gold & jewerly stores which will always give you a higher rate than you'll get at the banks.

Foreign journalists keep writing about how the Dong keeps losing its value but little that they know, more and more people in Vietnam are thristy for the USD tha'ts why they're willling to pay a high premium for the USD.

Whatever you pay for US dollar. Keep in mind currency in the US is also being manipulated. US currency is not always traded as a value of its deficiency.

I really think that China can be a tolerant and accepting place. An anthropologist once said "in the history of the world there has only been three great meritocracies where skill is valued above race, gender etc. They are America, Republican France, and China." Now America built a superpower on the back of immigrants who lent their labour, skills and intelligence, I don't why China can't also take some advantage of this.

Drug trafficking is unacceptable. There should be no tolerance. Zero.

Correct me if i was wrong, i think i read it somewhere, you can get residentship with 6 million HK dollars direct investment in HK.

You're right, although I think the number has recently been raised to 10 million HK dollars.

We were both born in HK though, so we don't need to worry about that. :azn:

P.S. I'm going to make my signature like your one, I hope that's alright with you!

HaHa, yes, we both born in HK, but i'm also one of those "privilege" natives of new terrotory which entitle to buy a piece of land (letter B) to build a house in Lamma island for a very cheap price. :yahoo:
One day when i'm getting old and might want to go back home, it will help a lot since land is so expensive in HK.:partay:

Yes, the paper USD has been printed out more so than ever. Yes, the paper USD has been manipulated or being called all sort of things. But guess what, at the end of the day, it is still the currency that people want as a form of exchange for goods and services around the world. You can use your USD to exchange for any local currency where you stay but hardly would the locals accept your "Yen or Franc" as a form of exchange for their currency. Take a tour to China and see for yourself, local Chinese only accept USD as a form of exchange for their Yuan. I personally know Vietnamese people who have such a tough time traveling abroad because they can't buy the USD from local Vietnamese banks or even private businesses.

The Dong will continue to "bleed" as local Vietnamese from the State to private citizens will continute to compete each others to hoard the USD. Without the USD, Vietnam can't import a lot of stuff from oversea.
