Vietnam devalues currency by 8.5 percent

"Have I wondered"? Sure. Hardly a convincing argument though.

The question is, can it be quantified?

How much exactly are we "stealing"?

The US government has already issued a statement, saying that China is NOT a currency manipulator. Let us see if Japan can take a line against Uncle Sam.

"Have I wondered" was surely not the argument. But I am sure that the message got thru. Re US declaration, why do you think the Vietnamese devlaution happened?

Could I ask you to be more specific please.

I don't think the message got through at all.

The US government has already made an official statement, that China is NOT a currency manipulator.

So can you quantify, if and/or how much, you think we are "stealing"?

For simple starters, I could lead you to the very senate and house or representatives in US that you now claimed have abrogated China of the currency manipulation. They infact had quantitied the lossed to the US businesses due to the same. Please look it up with equal zeal.

While, I take a sip of my Campari to the currency devaluation development in Vietnam. Cheers !

"Claimed"?

It is not a claim, it is an official statement by the US treasury, that China is NOT a currency manipulator.

Treasury gives China a pass on currency manipulation - Washington Post

So I'll ask for the third time, can you please quantify what you said before.

Well it figures that you are drinking something. None of what you post make much sense.

Hmm, so do you think Vietnam is stealing anything via currency devaluation?

Or does this prestigious honour only go to China.

You're right. It is probably a waste of time.

That is the problem with growing up in a disciplinary regime. But do not worry, the Maotai sales are not just limited to the poor and incoherent like us. "The Leaders" also do the same. It is quite okay. Take it easy.Let us leave the sense of our posts to that I think for now. When you have any matter worthy of the subject, let us surely indulge again. That is to yet another sip.

On that note, can I just ask for a final clarification here. You said that what Vietnam did was "fair play".

However, what Vietnam did is quite interesting. And mostly I think it is fairplay.

Does this apply to all countries except for China?

I'm not sure why you singled out China specifically by using the word "stealing" when you are unable to quantify it. However I have come to notice this anti-China behaviour from Indians here, so maybe it was not unexpected.

.
Ah the semantics. And have you ever wondered how much the trade balance of Japan has been hurt with other countries due to the artificial valuation of the Yaun? Whose exports do you think is China stealing currently?

So see, things are really not so simple.

China and Japan for the moment specialize on completely different things. There's almost no competitions on the export front between China and Japan. China and South Korea on the other hand are competitors, so are South Korea and Japan.

To be honest, with this Vietnam development, my thoughts are now more inclined to the "Do the Romans" thinking.

You're right. It is probably a waste of time.

I totally agree. In closed thought circles, it is best to just make the thoughts go around. The motivation comes from the "I rub yours, you rub mine" philosphy. Everything else is a risk of a waste of a time. Good luck fellows.

LOL. How patronizing.

Do you think Hong Kong is a "closed thought circle" then?

You are the only one here who is refusing to back up any of their arguments.

:what:
And if laowai thinks that Standard Chinese (Mandarin) is hard to learn, they should try learning Cantonese.

Although to be fair, some Westerners can do it very well.

This one for example, speaks like a native Hong Konger: Youtube link.

I know. I am still very fluent in Teochew, but I need to polish up on my Mandarin.

Never know, you guys might come here to the US to collect a debt and I might have to whip out my Mandarin to negotiate.. LOL :what:

LOL. :D

I don't think you guys need to worry about that over there.

It is always good to keep up on your Mandarin skills though.

Back in 1974, even you would have needed the torn "dong". Don't you think or should we go down the memoray lane?

I don't understand what you're trying to say? Are you implying that you know more of my history than myself?

Does the title say anything about India?

Get lost!

My friend. I am in Hong Kong a few days every month and I fully realize the "increasing independence of thoughts and practices of democarcy" that Hong Kong is getting from the mainland. So let us just leave it there. I really find no use in useless measuring contests that are not getting anywhere. I am anyway busy with a much better debate protagonist somewhere else. So chill my friend. Till later.
