China's ADIZ consists of International airspace as well as part of Japanese airspace(present).as Japan still defies to recognize Chinese ADIZ,its no wonder we'll see these "Cat and Mouse" game more often.plus,Japanese Jets are in no obligation to provide their identity and other information(like Civil Carrier Jets) either.
That's the point. With its own ADIZ, China also made it clear that it does not recognize part of Japanese ADIZ. Before China's move, it was a one-lane road; now it is a double-lane road. I do not see Chinese jets providing information, as well, within the contested ADIZ. So, you are right, more cat and mouse, or cat and cat game until one side prevails.
The new Chinese ADIZ clearly overlaps Japanese ADIZ:
Brother, the way Japanese ADIZ gets closer to China's mainland is almost obscene. Don't you think so. I think a capable country such as Japan can do amazing power projection from such close proximity
Diaoyu is still under Japan's control.but even if it is disputed,China exerted its ADIZ far inside Japanese Airspace.
you can see how much they actually dug deep.
I think same goes with Japan's ADIZ. It is a shame on part of China that it did not bring this up until so late.
Nice move by Japan. Tit for Tat.
Many say it is the other way round. It is China disturbing the status quo that has been there for decades, as Nihonjin mentions.
No one is saying China is evil, merely, I'm saying as what the Japanese side is saying that we have been patrolling our maritime and air domain for decades now. So, when your media says that Japan has "Gone deep inside China's ADIZ" is rather preposterous since JMSDF and JASDF units are merely doing regular patrols.
You should also note the rather calm and civil demeanor our F-15's behaved as we escorted the Chinese plane out.
Confrontational? I beg to differ.
I think professional behavior is commendable on both sides. So, expect more of the same as the region remains contested. I think, the media is right to say that, just as Japanese media would say Chinese planes went deep into Japan's ADIZ. Because, at the point, two ADIZs are overlapping.
Nobody important is recognizing China's self-proclaimed ADZ, so they are attempting to give it legitimacy by asserting it as well.
I did not know ADIZs can be proclaimed collectively. China is only making up for the decades long ignorance of its near airspace. And China does not recognize (just as Russia) US ADIZ, either.
See that?
Russian nuclear-capable bombers intercepted off California coast
I say when the US setup Japanese ADIZ unilaterally post WWII, and the subsequent enlargement of the ADIZ in 1972 & 2010 by Japan without consulting us, all bets are off. When in Rome, do as the Romans do fits the bill perfectly. Who cares what they think. Even the Russians do not regconise Japan's ADIZ.
An ADIZ is an ADIZ, regardless the whole world (people mean the Western world by that, more than often) does not recognize it. China's ADIZ is designed to keep the territory a contested/disputed zone. Hence, in fact, the more dispute there is, the better. International perception should be changed so that they start seeing the area as contested, rather than owned by Japan with no Chinese objection.
Otherwise, who said China recognized India's or US' ADIZ?
