You find expats in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh too. That means nothing. These guys were basically losers in their own countries and take up hardship assignments for a fat cheque. Few talented westerners relocate to Asian countries because of their love for Asian societies. Forget the exceptions. Not one would give up their western nationality.

China has a strict law not naturalizing foreigners, but recently the policy was changed a little bit and a crack is opened, for foreign born soccer players, if they have Chinese origin within 3 generations, they can apply to become Chinese citizen by giving up their current foreign citizenship, many candidate now are filing application, my home team Beijing Guoan got 3 from different European countries.

Because its a middle income Country with a per capita of 10K compared to the west which has 40-60K . Also China doesn't provide the same level of freedom to them . They will end up in jail if they say anything against the government . Overall its the quality of life which is vastly superior in the west .

I know. 2 types- Sikhs crossing over from Mexico asking for asylum. Its a racket. And overstaying South Indians, though not as serious a issue as the Punjabi one.

The west's "golden age" is close to the end. More and more Chinese prefer to live in China even they have chance to live in the West. You can see this trend from the % of overseas students returning China.
As I said, at this moment, the west still have higher living standard, but it won't last forever: our more developed eastern provinces are now already has a living standard of the developed world, and the less developed regions will also follow:

Daily I see Chinese bringing duffle bags full of cash to bypass their captial flight controls and they buy homes and real estate all over Canada. Previously it was just Vancouver but these days Montreal is also popular.
Canada used to have an investor visa. Mainly subscribed by Chinese. Then we removed it but Qubec still keeps it. So these days Chinese apply for Qubec immigration program but move all over Canada at the first chance they get.
Dunno why don't they keep their money and themselves in the glorious motherland.

Well China is a nation which is still developing. The simple reason is that you can earn more living in the west than you can in China (on average).

People leaving to live elsewhere doesn't mean that it's a bad country.

HongKong is as developed as Singapore, if not more. The biggest influx of Chinese in Canada historically has been from HongKong. We don't call Vancouver Hongcouver for nothing.

Weird I don't see Canadian and Australians trying to settle in HongKong in droves. There are few working in finance industry but rarely they take up citizenship or PR. And certainly we don't see a lot of Canadian who educate their children for sole purpose of immigrating to HongKong.
