Valentine's Day From an Islamic Perspective

Mr X;
the examples you gave dont conform with our thread. they are crimes and they are all done against someone's will. but we speak about common interest and desire of 2 people. i admit, it is a crime according to law but how will we prevent if these 2 people love eachother?

What if two peoples love cross all the boundaries? i mean they have SEX? by your logic both of them were in love and they had sex with their own permission........ nobody forced them to do it? both girl and the boy was willing to do it?

Well according to British Law if they both were Adult you probably will not face any punishment but Islamically if they ever did this before marriage........... get ready for 100 lashes...... if you were married....... then stone to death.......... this punishment applies for both male and the female

Though both of them were happy to go for sex but still this punishment will be given to them to avoid others repeating the same mistake

Having gf is something, loving someone is another gentelman. i think we shouldnt confuse these two with eachother. And our prophet says '' if 2 people loves eachother, help them to marry.'' Then how will we explain this? according to your point even loving a lady is a sin. am i wrong?
Ebu Hanife says; ''love is the penalty of haram glance''.
if you fall in love, can you lust for someone? dont you feel yourself like a girl? i dont want to speak more on it but we should admit that a real lover cant touch the lady whom he loves. as for me i cant imagine more than talking with her.
Gentelmen, there is a secret i will share with you... read carefully please '' you have parents; you werent brought by storks'' :smitten:

So, is forbidding Val's day an option? do we have to be judge over people's thoughts and their own privacy?

yes i agree...... but my father and my mother married before they decided to have childrens and ultimately i was born

Going with your wife having candle light dinners, giving flowers to each other or any that kind of stuff is fine........ but why do you chose 14th Febraury only for this purpose? why not go every single week and share flowers between each other? make love as much as you like? why only 14th Feb?

The Holy Quran "Husband and wife is like clothes........ so wear them whenever you like" so wear it............ but only after marriage

BTW there are girls trying to get a chance to have a ride on my Yamaha R1 , God save me:lol::pakistan:

To be honest i would want to have a ride on that machine. would you allow me to take a ride Brother? thats an admirable thing...:hang2:

.
So is having a boyfriend or a girlfriend illegal in Pakistan??
In Islam & In Pakistan .

If not then is giving a greeting card on 14th Feb to your girl/boy friend illegal.. If yes, then are the shops banned from keeping these cards

It is not been identified as a Criminal offense as yet because it is not allowed and it is not banned either.

C'mon guys, we have enough idiots in India with petty protests against western customs. Dont be like them

We are not Anti westerns , We just want our own Customs in our Land end of the story.

What the heck? When did I mention 'make love'? Valentines Day does not mean SEX! Wow, you people are delusional.

Also, my parents don't know. ;)

Pakistan is semi-secular. Which means they can't do anything about social life's.

No, and no. But people want everything related to it banned. Especially the conservative ones.

Hmm...

mech-le has a point Freekin

you go with your girl friend and of course will not make love..... only give cards........... or may be little bit of kissings? and that too probably not ok fine?

Your sister will go with her boy friend....... he will give her a valentines card....... may be little bit of kissing? or that too probably not......... she will be back home safely

If you like the above comments i made............ i stop debating with you... if u were angry you will probably stop supporting valentines day

.
So help me a bit here.. I have been married for some years now and we celebrate valentine day every year. Are you telling me that if I was living in Pakistan, I would have been breaking the law by celebrating a day with my wife??

no problem if you are married then all iz well......... and don't just give her flowers on valentines day but also other days......only one day in the whole year might bring bitterness in your life

and none of the laws will be breaking as long as you are married

Depends where you live. If your live in a super poor slum area, where guns rule the land, then of course you wouldnt see anything like that.

Because the poor are not "Beghairat:azn:"

You can find it in the Heera mandi and other places which according to me are our societies black holes where our criminals hide.

My school was no co-ed but that did not mean after-school activities were also segregated. In the same school, the A-levels were co-educational.

I lived in central Gulberg and spent a lot of my time in Johar Town and Defence in Lahore. Indeed, I saw more guns than I saw love, but that didn't mean i didnt see anyone having co-educational activities. ;) Once, I saw some guy proposing to this beautiful girl, and the crowd had the same reaction a crowd would have in the United States!

EDIT: If your wondering, she said yes to him! xD

You are a good story teller.:coffee:

.
Ok. So its not valentine day that is an issue, but its having a pre-marital companion ??.. Is my understanding correct??

Indeed & Valentines day focuses on it thus it is Unislamic .

Thanks.

Mr X;
i share the same thoughts with you about woman-man relations. i have the same point with you about physical actions

But what we talk is val's day. not such a type of zina or having such a close ''relation'' with a lady.

the thing we discuss is ''to look like non-muslims, to follow their way'' . so by this point of view Val's day is haram.

and you say a couple can celebrate this day after marriage. i think a muslim family shouldnt celebrate this day. married or not. but towards the point i wrote above. we cant look like them.

i will not speak more about this subject. because i feel that we seriously misunderstand eachother and the foreign friends we have may misunderstand our point and may have different ideas about us. and in these days we are trying to fix our image. we try to fix the ''Muslim'' image. and this thread gives damage to these efforts.

i want this thread to be deleted. is it possible? lets dont make our own false propaganda by our own hands. do you agree?

Do you have first-hand experience in this matter.. or are you judging on what you have read on the internet or saw on TV?

If people love each other that much, they can make their relationship physical at any moment. Because apparently, a box of chocolates can lead to intercourse. Epic. But well, nothing is impossible.

unfortunately thats not illegal because our peoples are becoming more westerners day by day. You will find valentines cards being sold in major parts of the country and having a boy friend/girl friend has also become very common though it was not like that 10 years ago and there is no such law against Valentines days so the law enforcement agencies do nothing. But yes still peoples in Pakistan are very nice... if say 1 girl said this guy touched me.... u will see him in hell after 5 minutes

yes i agree this time........ and the mods can close this thread instead of deleting it  and i can't say whether celeberating Valentines day after marriage is allowed or not since as a Muslim we should never take anything from any other religion. I can remember one hadees but not word by word so i will not share it unless i find it once again but if that hadees is true and i am right....... still valentines day should not be permitted however i don't want to discuss this topic anymore myself

Lets leave that decision to Allah and surely he knows the best......

but one thing is certain............. Celeberating Valentines day is prohibited

.
Freekin; brother are you drunk?
please give up discussing this subject. i think you admit everything written here personal.
lets give up discussing. shall we ask mods to delete this subject?
