Featured US withdrawal in Afghanistan up to 44% complete

WASHINGTON

The process to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan by September is up to 44% complete, Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Tuesday.

The military gave the range between 30 -44% due to security concerns amid the pullout. CENTCOM said 300 C-17 cargo planes of material have departed Afghanistan while 13,000 pieces of equipment have been marked for destruction.

An additional military facility has been handed over to Afghan forces in the past week, bringing the total to six. CENTCOM said it expected "additional transfers of bases and military assets in the future" to bolster Afghan forces.

CENTCOM has been providing weekly updates on the process to meet US President Joe Biden's commitment to end the US's longest war by Sept. 11.

Hope the US gov keeps any eye on the Kabul Regime, just in case they do a false flag (potentially causing the loss of the life of US persons or other international personnel) to try to sabotage the withdrawal. If the last 15-18 months have shown anything, the Talibs look like they are keeping their word not to target US persons. It wouldn’t be logical for them to change now. This is the period of maximum vigilance; the Kabulis are very desperate, anything could happen. They might have been behind that hazara school bombing (as per journalists on the ground per reports on Twitter) so I can’t put anything past them. Especially after one of their most famous pilots so publicly left the country.

Probably once Bagram is handed over in a couple weeks, most international forces in the capital region will shift to the Turkish protected Kabul Airport. They are probably already out of Kandahar and probably still at “Jbad”.

Hope the Kabul regime gets serious to start negotiating a power sharing agreement in good faith, so this withdrawal doesn’t lead to chaos.

Given Taliban the south (Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul, Herat, Ghazni, Farah, Loy Paktia etc) and let the gov have the north (Kabul, Mazar, etc).

They won’t accept that because historical it’s all the kingdom of Afghanistan. That is why they can’t accept a partition. Also just south and East is a slippery slope towards reviving pasthunistan which is a concept that is a threat to Pakistan.

In the end they would need to hold enough of the north to at least control the Pashtun areas like kunduz to be satisfied they have reunified their homeland.
