My sources tell me, they will get basic stuff. Nothing high end. Americans do not want to fall the high end equipment in Talib-b@stards hands.

ANA is also getting cesna type planes for basic use.

Rest of the sophisticated equipment will be given to Pakistan.

Pakistan-USA military relations are not defined as per the wishes of the leftis and socialist posters of PDF.

Give it to ANA, it will fall in hands of talban and will be used against afghan forces and remainder of ISAF, give it to pakistan, and they will use it against Indian forces.

I am more concerned about excess amounts of MMG's, mortars, small arms, 40mm grenades. My fear is these will trickle down to mercenaries in kashmir.

The US first expressed this interest a few years back and is reassuring Pakistan today that it will receive US military equipment used in Afghanistan. It is more cost effective for US to give most of the weapons to Pakistani military rather than taking it all back to the US. Also US is not going to leave such sophisticated weaponry in hands of Afghanistan a country with an infant army.

This from what I read is apart of the 2014 drawdown deal, if the deal goes through PA is going to be replenished after 2014 and made even a more potent force.

Now suddenly USA became the hero from villain...until now the USA was the root cause of all problems in Pakistan. Nice to see the jump these guys make...the Americans know the tricks...you don't need army to destroy Pakistan, all one needs to do is give them weapons...rest they will do it themselves.

As far as India is concerned, it does not matter as USA has been giving toys to Pakistan since its independence and all those toys have been comprehended with be it the Sabre or the Patton ....

In one way it will be good for India too..these equipment will surely land into the hands of the Chinese who will reverse engineer them and start mass production. This means the technology will not the sole property of the Americans.

The last time I was in Kashmir would be 23-26th December 2010. Celebrated Christmas with a Smirnoff (full) and slept in the floor of the house boat

It was also nice to see that all tourist spots were filled even during the off peak season.
