The US mission in Pakistan said Monday that student visa services for Pakistan will resume from October 1 after it had been halted due to COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the statement, the services will kick start at the United States Embassy in Islamabad and the US Consulate General in Karachi.

Terming student visas a "top priority", the statement said the US mission "will make every effort to assist student visa applicants as timely and safely as possible".

The statement noted that at any given time, nearly 8,000 students from Pakistan study at universities and colleges across the United States and that it looked forward to welcoming others who were interested in the "American educational experience".

It said that applicants are required to wear masks and maintain social distance as part of coronavirus safety measures.

Processing for other visa categories will resume "as soon as we are able", the press release said. Applicants can visit the mission's website to determine if they qualify for an emergency appointment.

wouldn't it be better they give these to indians?

Yes it is much better. Since most of those who go to US don't return and its either US or EU that end up employing them and "gain" the brain. Pakistan ends up with nothing but often paying either directly in the form of Pakistani funded scholarships or indirectly in the form of financial support by family members from here in Pakistan.

WE are much better off sending students to China, from where rate of return is far higher and who later due to their Chinese language skills and chinese cultural understanding might not just find work as Chinese move their industry to Pakistan but also might even create joint start up with Chinese in the future (unlike Americans Pakistanis who mostly do such things only in America) and advance Pakistani industrial growth.

Plus having lot of Chinese educated and engineers, scientists and technicians with with Chinese language skill will attract large scale Chinese industrial investment in Pakistan once these industrial zones in Pakistan are up and running.

They will interview 1000 students and give visa to 10 students.

Each interview will cost each student $200

Money goes to USA happy earning.

Actually, it's in the US interests to give many student visas as they can because international students are a financial boon for colleges and universities, because a) they more than US students in fees and tuition 2) will not receive government aid in form of grants and loans.

It's quite the racket.

What is the "racket" here? People are free to make their choice to apply for a visa or not - to any country. It is all up to them.

Your country can also gain the brain if correct policies are made for banking, industry and education sector. Weeping whole life will not help.

A racket is an "illegal or dishonest way of obtaining money", and therefore does not apply here. The applicant choses to apply to whichever country they may wish to pursue studies by free will. All charges are disclosed up front for the visa. If there are any benefits in the exercise, they are mutual.

Good news. Pakistanis should be present in all corners of the world.

Why is the tiny island nation of United Kingdom so great despite getting hammered in World War 2, losing its Empire and struggling economically in the 1970s.

It's because of a network of English speaking nations it can fall back on: United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Why does the UK allow hundreds of thousands of people to migrate to the UK each year?

It's because hundreds of thousands of British people leave the country to live British way of life in other corners of the world, directly expanding the British sphere of influence.

India is the other country that has been fairly successful with this model.

So stop worrying about brain drain and think about increasing communities and influence everywhere. Don't worry, you'll get a lot more in return like $23 billion in remittances and around half a million foreign tourists (mostly Pakistanis).

Indians are anyway getting it. But I don't understand how it will benefit Pakistan to give these visas to Indians?
its called sarcasm! plus this is just a puny effort to show how messiah like they are. so on that account I say shove it up their arse.
