England, australia, japan, Saudi Arabia Canada all asked for high tech and wanted F22, now these nations have followed the US supported anywhere and everywhere I everything. Lets not make this a bigger deal than it is.

By the way Russia has given India crystal blade technology, Russia has given India a nuclear submarine,not once but 3 times. They have given India a lot more than u can imagine. Don't doubt their friendship. In the next couple of year India is poised to get much more critical tech from them.

Russia leased the submarine to you. Not let you built one within your country. Not like Scorpene submarines. We are selling the F-35 which is far more advanced than the F-22. It may be less stealthy but has more powerful sensors and better engine.

Indian government is not foolish they know what they are doing you don't get something just for free, US will ask something in return & we have to compli if we want something ,neither Russia or Europe will give us any input on jet engine now or even in future I guarantee that,there is a mistrust between the two countries due to historic baggage & post like yours only deepen it further ,if technology comes its good if not better to spend more on R&D

Nobody will give away engine tech I believe what the deal is about manufacturing engines in India. Same way russian engine are manufactured in India.

1. what choices do we have with regards to advanced dual use cutting edge engine technology ?

2.are we good enof or maybe close to the level of gas turbine engine technology bieng used worldwide ?

3.so called current indian goverment greedy and ambitious about what ?

4.can any big feat be achieved without ambition and greed for more ?

5.we are dealing with europeans and russians for aircraft technology since last 6.8 decades .. what did we achieve till now with respect to technology tranfer to make owr own potent wepons and how mucg they really contribeuted in owr quest ?

apart from all the sugar coated talks no nation ... yes no developed bation will sell us there hard earned technology until we share with them what they need ... take it or leave it .... only problem with us is that do we have luxury to leave it when we have war clouds gathering all around us ?

Well that is only partially correct.

India builds the complete AL31F from scratch, though we import the Alloys that make the engine parts.

G.E also builds LM2500 Marine turbine engines in HAL, India. But unlike the AL31F, HAL only assembles the G.E engine which parts made in its US factory.


What the current GoI is asking to do is build the entire G.E engine in India that insulates it from US sanctions and strings.
