US soldier gets mugged by Turkish nationalists

At least one US soldier was attacked by a group of Turkish Youth Association (TGB) activists in Istanbul, where the US warship USS Abraham Lincoln is currently docked. Members of the group threw red paint at the soldier and attempted to put bags over his head as he entered the city to shop, chanting “Yankee, go home! The activists then chased the soldier down the street before police intervened and arrested the participants.

I think US supporting PKK terrorists was not such a good move....

Putting aside this incident, which was symbolic as an response to US soldiers putting a bag over our soldier's head in 2003, a lot of people don't trust US.

They are helping our enemies.

They werent "mugged" they were attacked.....muggers steal wallets and phones. These guys just chased them, over political reasons.

Some may recall what the US did to Turkish troops during an anti-PKK operation in Northern Iraq.....detained a Turkish unit for 3 days, which angered many Turks.

cant say they oppose US but can certainly say they oppose EU accession. After Greece, Portugal and Spain helped prove that the EU is not linearly viable - i think the Turks would be clinically INSANE to want to be a part of that union...especially when with a cheaper lira but still access to EU markets - they are having trade advantage over some EU states
