We can go a LOT further than that if you know what I mean. A strong, pro-European Germany is one of the biggest fears of the US.
Guys......the world has grown a LOT more than WWI or WWII. German population today is mere 81 million people living in a relatively smaller area. In the current economic and military system, you need a much bigger area (market) and population, supporting a massive military. The population and the area was the idea behind the creation of the EU.
But the issue with EU is, either there are no strong countries having their individual market size that's significantly larger and backs up a regional power type military, or, the countries who do produce advanced weapons, don't sell to a degree that can create a global power out of the EU. Primarily, the countries don't have the size and the population to support these grand ideas.
And conspiracy theories are everywhere, whether you grab a nationalist from Germany, a nationalist from India or a nationalist from the US, there will be parties that each of these guys would blame for their issues.
When you live in a world, and sell your products to the entire globe, you are making a profit for your country and you've automatically become a part of the global world. Which means, you will have to deal with unpleasant and unfair situations also, whether you like it or not.
An example would be (after reading some of the sad and racist post on here, I thought I'd add a real example I've heard about); let's say, a German businessman cuts a German oil and gas drilling equipment deal with an Arab guy. The deal is worth many millions of Euros and provides millions in profit to the European businessman.
He'll be hugging the Arab guy with a big smile on his face (happens all the time). BUT, say a war torn area, that Germany or another EU country decided to extend their help to, has an Arab or an African, displaced family coming in, and you have to probably allow it. The SAME person who had a big smile on his face dealing with one Arab or African guys a week ago, would now have a frown and hatred towards this family, from the SAME origin who he just met and appreciated the profit from. Is it normal? No, when you get benefits from someone, you also have to consider the negative aspects of it too. In the US, we call that "Cost of doing business".
In my opinion, Race or Racism is a process in our head to blame our own failures on someone we don't consider too dear, or someone who seems like a natural escape goat as we don't expect resistance from. Can one Mom or Tell their 17 year old daughter that she was the reason for why one or both the parents failed? Not really. If you said that, wouldn't you expect a sharp verbal reaction from a typical American or European teenager? Absolutely!!! Racism helps avoid the repercussion of our failures or a counter response to them. As our mind (subconscious) already knows when you discriminate against someone, they belong to a minority (Race), and they'll more than likely be on the defense and they'll take the racial crap from others as they are foreign to that land and they already feel the distant from the natives.
The slavery like mentality still exists in humans and it'll take many more decades for it to go away, that is, if everyone wishes to play a real global village. Not a global village that's only there when one earns profit.
