I am talking in general, not necessarily the Southern rednecks. Most of the racist insult against the Japanese originated in the US. My Japanese classmate who worked as an intern in some Japanese office in Florida used to tell me the stories of his encounter with racist people who threw very racist insult at him.

well yeah, i don't deny that there are racist north muricans. but most of them racist issues comes from the south though. i haven't been to murica, but i don't think they're going much racist to asians as compared to the black people. you probably should take a look at the englishmen in our backyard, the australians. they're more than racist to any people that are neither English nor Bogans.

I have never been to Australia, but, I agree with your observation that sweeping claims will not probably work although we might track how racism and the entire racist discourse against the Asians have historically come about.

Getting news from any single paper or site is not a good idea.
I Personally use google news, which is a good hub, it has articles on the same topic/event from a variety of sources including Russian and Chinese sources ( English language of course).

I think the OP might have taken into account of the difficult situation faced by Germany, that many other "teammates" are more liabilities than constructive assets, e.g. the PIGS. Remember how Italy "helped" to defeat their ally Germany back in WWII.

Moreover, as the rift between Germany-led-EU and Russia widens, US can exerts maximum influence in Europe with minimum leverage. That's probably why US has no fear, at least for the time being, of an European hegemon.
