It would, therefore, be extremely naïve to expect any kindness or generosity towards Pakistan as long as Donald Trump remains in power. My intense dislike for Donald Trump is also for three additional reasons.


1. Donald Trump is the most pro-Israeli US President among the long line pro-Israeli US Presidents since WW2. He recognized Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel. As if that was not enough, he has now accepted the Golan Heights as the part of Israel as well.


2. India appears very large in the Trump administration’s strategic thinking and a major element in the informal defense alliance aimed at counterbalancing China. While a candidate for the presidency, Trump had declared that “India is doing well, but that the country isn’t getting the attention it deserves.”


3. Since taking office he has unilaterally pulled out of the ‘North American Free Trade Agreement’, Iran Nuclear Deal, Trans-Pacific Partnership, revoked $200-milion economic aid to the Palestinians and withdrew from the UNESCO. But the ‘Coup De Grace’ was his announcement of the USA withdrawal from the Paris Agreement; an international accord on limiting greenhouse gases; in June 2017.


In my opinion, the world needs Donald Trump like we need a hole in the head and humanity, in general, would breathe a sigh of relief when this demagogue (here I mean someone who makes use of the popular prejudices to gain power) disappears from the US political scene.

I think some of his positive remarks about Pakistan in recent times have been for our efforts in peace talks in Afghanistan. They will try and be on our good side as long as these peace talks continue.

A very sober realization whereas most Pakistanis continues to delude themselves on warming Pakistan-US relations, including members of Pakistan's government and military.

Outside of Afghanistan, there's a divergence of interests between Pakistan and US and it's been occurring soon after the Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union. China was emerging and US seeks closer relations with India to counter it. 9/11 and the GWOT was a temporary diversion, but even then US was courting India.

Now Pakistan is clearly in China's camp and this makes easier for everyone.

The figures that they provided were nothing, they were still a net loss for the Pakistani economy and billions more were lost from tourism, investments and lives lost. But the US especially Republicans still proceed with this talking point.

FYI Pakistan didn't initiate any of these wars by attack across international border.

71 war was initiated by India by attacking across international border on the night of 20/21 November without formal declaration of war. The whole world remained silent.

Pakistan provided US with ALOC and GLOC. Handed over 70 percent of AQ leadership...Afghan Taliban were neither terrorists, nor our enemies. We did more than our due part against AQ unlike some EU countries part of ISAF and NATO did like bribing Taliban not to attack them. What the US did in return of our services was to invite our enemy India in Afghanistan to spread it's influence(and support to anti-Pak groups from Afghan soil), heck Bush even made a nuclear deal with India so that they could spare more for nuclear weapons(we just got a pat on back and order to "do more") ---The alleged double game started after that.

Were we expected to get sandwiched between a strong hostile Afghanistan on the West and strong hostile India on the East.
