US must be involved in Afghanistan after troops leave: Pakistan

.
I don't think Pakistanis get it... U.S. won't continuously foot the bill for Afghan government. Once U.S. leaves Afghan government will fall in about 2 to 3 years with no foreign meddling whatsoever ... with foreign assistance or meddling even sooner... the only permanent solution is merger... but Pakistanis afraid of their own shadows will pass the buck to whoever can use Afghanistan as pad to destabilize Pakistan... India or Iran... last option is China... but that is neither here nor there

These are the dividends of having a functioning FM. You have to the ask former regime of Nawaz Shareef as to why he didn't have the FM and Pakistan voice and point of view got muzzled at international stage during his tenure.
Ah...All ills happened due to NS regime and now all things are gradually improving...
I hate politics...
We have a defence minister who is nothing and is more ceremonial post than the ceremonial post of President...Science and Tecnology minister who is a lawyer and journalist...
Tbh, SMQ is a fine minister for foreign affairs...and unexpectedly, I was also impressed by Khawaja Asif as FM( his other posts were ordinary).

Anyway, it doesn't matter how strong and effective our FM be... the countries have their own interests and will follow them no matter how good and valid our case is.

Afghan warlord never live in peace. They always have territorial war. US stay or leave, they will eventually start fighting. All Pakistan can do, send back all refugees back to Afghanistan before US leaves and seal the border. Because once US leave, another war will break out among local warlords and Pakistan will back on refugee crisis.

Warlords do not operate in a vacuum. There is a causal relationship between non existing or ineffective government and people picking up arms and making there own fiefdoms.

It makes me laugh that people think USA will leave aghanistan. They will not, they need to keep this region unstable to contain china, its simple as that
How exactly does the Afghan war affect China?

There are reasons that US must keep presence in Afghanistan. Last time after USSR, Washington left Afghanistan scattered with fighters and weapons all over but without any further plan of rebuilding and we have seen the results which proves that Pakistan was the first and most for taking damage. An abandoned land of Afghanistan without any investment and rebuilding will turn into yet another opportunity for the warlords. Had they not left in hurry for the last time; picture would have been different. The one who brought the war to the land, should take care thenafter as well. US if ever serious in peace & rebuilding a country; what Pakistan suggests is the way forward.

Major chunk of warlord operate around opium fields and its smuggling routes.
As I said ... ineffective or non existent government allows this paradigm. Why don't you think there are poppy fields in Pakistan for example... the minute Pakistan government becomes unable to stop people from illicit means to acquire drugs and weapons the failure will manifest itself. U.S. will always have domestic concerns dictating any future presence in Afghanistan and it seems highly unlikely that U.S. will foot the bill for it's government. That will leave regional states to play their role ... most likely as a continued proxy against Pakistan. And, Pakistan once again will pass the buck!
Eventhough, with Afghanistan merging with Pakistan will reinvigorate CPEC as a regional cohesive force... Pakistan not going for it will keep the backdoor of Chabahar open and meddling in full swing both against CPEC and Pakistan itself.

Its not a rocket science, you need a FM to at least make noises on international level regardless if someone is willing to listen or not. Narrative building is not limited to movers and shakers of a foreign nation, in this day and age of social media, whatever is said, can be heard all over and opinions can be swayed.

Educated class of Afghan already left Afghanistan. Now dealing with warlord and teaching them democracy ......good luck.

what we do know as soon as US leaves , Afghans will have a bloody civil war and blood shed, i think Pakistan should close its borders before the US leaves and make sure that we suspend Visa services for Afghanistan for at least 5 years .

.
Slightly off the topic.....but if we had a robust economy and the deep pockets ......may be a federation or merger with Afghan areas willing to join Pakistan would have been an ideal situation for all.
