What's new

US may keep 10,000 troops in Afghanistan

Actually it would be much more than 10% since both Pak and India face active insurgencies and the troops are always rotated.

I don't think so the insurgencies happening there is nothing compared to what is happening Afghanistan we are in state of active war.

. .
1. If you were to make deals with Taliban why the heck you got so many people killed in the war?

2. Who is in your opinion a clean pure person for the slot? above all does it matter if a pure person is prez while his allies are all corrupt same extremist warlords?

be sure the thugs are again in for 5 years

Elections are nearing in Pakistan too and there should be no TRADE passage to INDIA in coming days.

you can use chahbahar

You haven't given a trade passage, it's only Afghanistan who can export goods to India via Pakistan.

Your first question is to be answered by US and Pakistan - The US who started this war and Pakistan who fed and is feeding this war; no Afghan was involved! we have made the biggest sacrifice in this so called WOT.

1. Afghans dint sacrifice for WOT , they had been killed since decades for their internal power wrangling between warlords of all colours.

2. Its funny to see YOU aka Sher Malang suddenly changed his stand on WOT by calling it "So-called". its was you who were against Taliban and now suddenly you are liking them.

No, today if the extremist warlords are in the government it's because of the policy of USA, Bush himself authorized hiring all of them in the government and thought they will be US's ally; once US leave and we get to have a strong and clean president with majority of people's support the role of these warlords will come to an end soon even Karzai tried and dismissed alot of them out of government by various political ways in his second term.

In the past when US was NOT there these same warlords were there. They are going nowhere. Their presence is the main reason we will see power bickering and the fight will go on

I dont see any reason to give trade route to India at expense of our own. so what does Afghanistan export to India?

Where did I supported Taliban? I am the one who has suffered the most from Taliban WOT is not Afghanistan's war but the world's including Pakistan's we are forcefully dragged into it and they have given us the choice between 'bad' and 'worst'.

Decades of power wrangling? WTF it begin with Pakistan's interference for it's strategic depth.

.
Not surprised. US troops will stay there as long as they are needed by the Afghans. After having spent trillions of dollars on this war they are not going to let the country slip back into the clutches of Taliban.

And these 10,000 troops will be of the "special" kind, with the USAF and USN a radio call away. So good luck to the Talibs and their sympathizers.

The main reason is Afghanistan is a land locked country and it becomes the right of Afghanistan to demand passage, but u r right, India cannot demand the same, we have other options.

They export their agricultural produce and some hand made textiles I think.

The man export would be minerals. For example, a consortium of 7 Indian companies backed by SAIL won a bid to mine iron ore in 4 blocks of Hajigak mines requiring an investment of 14 billion dollars over 4-5 years.

Well you shouldn't have attacked us :) ..... you guys pushed us too far....

From 40,000 to 24,000 and now 10,000. US is reducing troop soldiers to be posted every now and then.

Taliban always had the stance that they will not join govt if foreign forces are in afghanistan.... So the number is reducing to facilitate the talks..... specially after recent release by Pakistan on Afghan request....

I am sure about minerals, long land transit is not ideal for basic minerals exports because of pollution problems, Pakistan would allow high value exports thru', but I doubt minerals.

Minerals can best go thru rail and sea transport thru'Iran.

It will be not clear for at least 6 more months they are just checking general reaction to these announcements!

they cant be there forever.....but they wont leave overnight either

your responsibility as an Afghan citizen (I assume you live there?) is to participate in the affairs of your country and to promote unity rather than war-lordism. When the elections come, vote for people who will serve Afghanistan rather than serve outsiders

i say the same to Pakistanis as well!
