US Marines in Karachi??

US marines are the designated guards for US embassies because they are under the executive branch and hence represent the US government historically.

Marines were also the only branch that could be deployed at the orders of the Executive branch(President and Cabinet) and in essense did not require congressional approval until the war powers act.

Those typical stories of violence and horror is how the media makes its money in Pakistan. Bad news is catchy which sells better......which gives a good point of view what people want to hear and see to be glued to the screens...that's how they get their ratings.

I knew a US Marine naval aviator (American-born to Pakistani parents) who used to visit Peshawar during his holidays.
