US:Kerry asks Sharif to take action against LeT, Haqqani network

No, they can't. It would harm American interests. Besides, at this point, it wouldn't matter.

Off Topic but what is your view on that? Ultimately defeating ISIS is one war which Pakistan has to fight either now after a few years. Better to fight it with US by your side - No?

The US is trying to build another military alliance, with Pakistan at it's center.

I've already explained myself, no need to repeat what I wrote.

@That Guy - could you point me to that? sorry to bother but I am very curious what we need Pakistan for in another alliance when it didn't work in recent past

I'm for joining, but not at the expensive of Pakistan's economic future. The War in Afghanistan has already cost Pakistan a decade, if Pakistan is to join this military alliance, the US should guarantee that it will not affect Pakistan's economy negatively.

Everyone including Kerry knows that the Pakistani govt will not be stopping its support for India-centric terrorist groups like LeT any time soon (won't be allowed by PA/ISI even if the civilian govt wanted to) . We Indians know that too and we try to deal with it accordingly.

It has worked multiple times in the past. You think Afghanistan is the only time the US has relied on Pakistan? Bosnia, Vietnam (politically), Somalia, first Gulf war...etc.

The new alliance is to counter ISIS, and Pakistan is supposedly in the center.

ok got it. Not a bad idea and it'll probably help Pakistan more than most other countries. ISIS will be looking at Pakistan as a prime recruitment point so it is appropriate that Pakistan proactively join forces to kill of ISIS. And that could also be how Pakistan gets out of the international dog house and constant charges of terrorism.

No, it hasn't. Pressure has actually dissipated, considering that the US is once again coming back to Pakistan for help.
How do you even came to this conclusion.

The UN asked both sides to talk, not just Pakistan, and without pre-conditions at that too (something India is against).
For your kind information. PAKISTAN aggressively approached UN on two issues. Plebiscite and Wall of defence. What happened? Nothing. UN dint even took notice of it. Instead asked Pakistan to talk with India to sort the issue. Which mean UN says it's bilateral issue. Now to talk with India it's clear India won't be ready for talks when you continue with cross border terrorism. Who will? Now comes the UFA Pact which India want Pakistan to honour.

No, it wasn't. It was in response to the recent border tensions.
No its not. Because you expressed your concerns which are not even discussed by your PM but conveyed by UN. Two different thing. Your push as failed. Found no takers

Misleading, but the US has always stayed away from Kashmir. Don't be ridiculous.

This isn't game over, it's just another day.
For Pakistan there is not loss. It's just another day. I wonder how you can blatantly be ridiculous. US is supporting Pakistan? By staying away US is supporting India. By rejecting your claims at UN. UN is supporting India. And you you think it's Victory over India? And just another day for celebration.

No, it isn't. Don't be ridiculous.
o_O seriously?

If Pakistan was cornered, the US wouldn't be coming back to Pakistan for help. There is a reason why Pakistan no longer relies on the US, and with Pakistan moving away from the US, there is little the Americans can do to pressure Pakistan.
To pressure you Americans don't have to be your friend. Actually some how move to sanction terror sponsored state bill been washed away. If US want they can unilaterally put an economic ban and technology ban on Pakistan for act of terrorism. Because the evidence India sharing with US is beyond anyone's ability to defend it.

You need US. Than they need You. Your job of being a middle man for terror training is done. They packed their bags from Afghanistan in no time. Wrong perception.

@That Guy & @Ind4Ever -
Nawas Sherief was sent to meet BankiMoon to specifically ask for UN intervention. BanKiMoon said No.
The Nawas Sherief was told by John Kerry that if he has a problem with India, to go talk to India - this when he raised Kashmir as some issue.

Oh, not to forget, Kerry told NAwas Sherief to stop terrorist groups such as LeT. Which is what India wants.

I don't understand what @That Guy means by 'USA is coming to Pakistan'. For what?

Me too don't understand how @That Guy came to this conclusion.

Somebody give this guy an award and to the guy who made him a think tank here.

Really? Relied on Pakistan? For what? For Vietnam it was Philippines. Somalia and Bosnia it was Turkey and also during Gulf wars! They had no choice during Afghanistan considering Iran bordering it. I don't know why you would unnecessarily flatter yourself drawing unwanted debate over your desire to wet your pants with a patriotic boner.

Why is Mr. Kerry is speaking Mr. Sharif in the first place...Mr. Sharif might the premier of this country but he does not hold any power...Mr. Kerry should instead should speak to Pak's army chief the person who really has power in Pak....

Mr. Kerry by speaking to Sharif itself is an indication that it is just an eye wash kind of a thing ....If Mr. Kerry was serious would have done definitely spoken to the person who is really in charge in Pak.......

I disagree, because it keeps the issue alive. If Pakistan didn't bring it up, it would have been a diplomatic score for India. Even if Pakistan didn't get the result it wanted (which it knew would be the result), this was done to keep the issue from dying.

First of all thank you for keeping the discussion in a civil and professional manner, I could not find many on Pakistani side doing that! Hats off to you for that!

So it means the world is not interested in the Kashmir issue, and Pakistan is hell bent to keep the issue alive with no supporters at all! So how it helps Pakistan?

I hope a situation like this would force Pakistan to revive terrorism, but alas it is not 1990's we have better infrastructure and would neutralize any/most of the incoming terrorist, even another Kargil was not possible as the army stand guard around the year.

A all-out conventional war is not possible to sustain beyond a week on Pakistani part, So comes the nuke nuke nuke factor! But uncle Sam wont allow it to use it.

Plebiscite - the difficult first part, Pakistan has to vacate Azad Kashmir first and hand it over to India, Which Pakistan never gonna do it in its life time!

So Kashmir would remain a scar in Indo-Pak relations and would haunt us for another 68 years for sure!

This means,Nothing changed after Nawaz's trip..

UN willn't bother about Kashmir

USA doesn't bother about Kashmir. They're interested about Pakistan's commitment over "Counter Terrorism".

We don't bother about Talk with Pakistan..

Wastage of 15 crore on Pakistan's part.

This is public knowledge, google it.

regular old google dot com.

Also, you got a negative rating for this...

"Somebody give this guy an award and to the guy who made him a think tank here."

Not only is it off topic, but it is extremely insulting.

I'm not going to do your homework for you, google it yourself.

well this was something which has been said many times. But in the end, some people are not interested in cleaning the mess.
