US House bill would close door on Saudi arms sales

. . . .
In Syria they are fighting with civilians if that counts... in Yemen they are not doing well at all.
What happened to MBS's 'two-week' adventure in Yemen?

Still there after so many years? Must be doing so well that they don't want to leave.

There is another dimension to the power the US holds in KSA: intelligence penetration. The CIA and the lot have a lot of penetration in the Saudi power structure and can help orchestrate a coup if they see Saudis shifting towards Russia and/or China.

This is something the current leadership also has to consider and keep in mind.

Then the fact that a most of the investments of Saudi individuals and groups is in the west, that too could become vulnerable to sanctions if the Saudi leaderahip push back too hard.

The Saudis will have to work long andhard to close the gaps in their defence and security apparatus before they can even seriously think about leaving their current allies.

I don't think that's gonna happen.

But if it does, all weapons systems in the hands of KSA will have difficulty in keeping it in service. So its a political leverage. And also they will have same difficulty in keeping the systems from the EU. Because sub-components of all weapons systems which KSA use are from USA origin. New corvette agreement, for example... Only one option remains: Just like Iran did, they will try to fly their planes with the black market.

For move to the Chinese or Russian military system, All the logistics flow needs to be re-planned. All depot level maintenance bases need to be changed. All documentation must be rewritten. The education of the military standards needs to be changed. And you need to accumulate completly new operational experience.

PS:Even the removal of hundreds of counselors who have an important role in the defense procurement and planning of the Saudi Arabian will be a major problem.

Because this risk is not an issue that can be overcome by the acquisition of a single system as stop-gap. There is a risk that the entire military system needs to change.

So... No, the United States will not turn its back to the KSA. But if the KSA does not handle the domestic production move with seriousness, this threat will be continuous.

Saudi Arabia should not buy from America anyway after Trump moved embassy to Jerusalem. Saudi Arabia should buy J-10B from China and Su-35 from Russia.

Golden opportunity for Russia and China to make an entrance.
What entrance, they are already present.. in China's case for decades now, Russia is quite new but not in the middle east at a whole// they have been there even before China..

Maybe this is why Saudi Arabia took this Kashoggi affair to restructure all its intelligence organizations.. it could have been infiltrated by US and western intelligence that had puppets in there..This whole kashoggi assassination affair came soon following two important announcements by MBS concerning the US protection of KSA.. and all the responses of the West after the Kashoggi affair point to them being hurt by his frank talk.. so they went even further by accusing him personally for a murder that neither KSA nor MBS in particular had anything to gain from!!!?

They will never ever do that just words. Otherwise Yemen war will be over and Saudi will be out from there in no time.
