US has made a strategic bet on India, says US official

These days tough to understand …What US want from India….?

China is doomed to showdown with USA, no choice.

India and china shall not kill each other, or USA will rule the whole Asia.

See, we all fall into traps. Yes, India and China had a border dispute, and it is true that Nehru was a first class idiot in many ways, but it could have been handled in a low-key manner. In the 1962 conflict China did not gain any territory that it was not already occupying, as far as I know, but the episode damaged relations seriously.

The British were responsible for the creation of Pakistan for their own strategic needs, and the Americans have been supporting Pakistan financially and militarily.

After the conflict of 1962 the effort should have been to heal the rift, but China decided to enable the terrorist strategy of the British-created state by giving nuclear technology.

Nehru's mistake was not protesting when China attacked Tibet, but that is now water under the bridge.

British and Americans have done what they thought is in their best interest.

China has force India onto the negotiation table by providing Nukes and Missiles to Pak. Question is what are we bringing to the negotiation table to help us negotiate on favorable terms ?

India has to remain on good terms with all major powers (including the US), strengthen its defense, and watch how events develop. At the same time there can be a dialog with China to reach some understanding about the future of the region and also about global issues.

....we will be on good terms with anyone only if we can delivery some value to them. What value are you proposing to the US ?

In the 'dialog' with china what is India bringing onto the negotiation table that will help us reach some understanding ?

They need somebody to absorb China's 3000 nuclear warheads when world war erupts. india looks like the perfect candidate ;)

You know that you are just making a fool out of yourself with such childish and immature comments

OT: So they think they can sell us their fancy weapons and lure us with nuclear treaties to make us their poodle for Asian affairs?

LOL tell that our opposition and CPI :D

If they see any value they are welcome to come to us. But we are unlikely to enter into a military alliance with anybody. A nation of India's size has to stand on its own strength.

Having said that, there are significant trade relationships with both the US and China.

With the US we also have shared interests in Afghanistan, and some defense deals.

With China we coordinate on global issues such as the proposed treaty on carbon emissions. Whether we can have a shared view of the future, for regional or global issues, is something that can be explored.

I am confused. Are you suggesting that because we coordinate with China on carbon emissions, it will force them to resolve border issues with India?
