US General Asks India for Military Assistance in Afghanistan

. .
What more do Pakistanis need to see that NATO is in Afghanistan for the purposes of destabilizing Pakistan?

Pakistanis: your survival is at stake! NATO and Bharat do not wish to see an independent Muslim country with nuclear weapons capability especially one that is close to China. They will use every means possible: internal (traitors; NGO's) & external (khawarij groups based in Afghanistan).

Do you have skin on your teeth?!

US general should demand military assistance from india in term of presence of Indian soldiers on Afghan soil. I think by sending indian troops in Afghanistan india can help US in more effective manner. Moreover it will be the good opportunity for us to master our hunting skills .....

And to think that you are a Think Tank?

BTW, why do you have to have Indian soldiers in Afghanistan in order to hunt? If you really want to hunt Indian soldiers, there is a place where you can find them right at this moment. Across your eastern border in India. What are you guys waiting for?

If you guys are really that itching to fight, why don't you fight it out one on one -- without the shield of "plausible deniability" or without threatening to launch "atmee bum" while hiding in an underground bunker!

Stop firing from the shoulders of a hired mercenary!

yes and I think the situation in Afghanistan has becoming increasingly fragile. The political divisions, intransigent Taliban, failing economy are far from encouraging signs. Many may have predicted it -- but seeing it is an altogether different matter.

Ghani is a good man and his team is possibly the Afghanistan can hope for -- but the deck is really stacked against them.
It doesn't help that Ghani has had to deal with constant saboteurs within the unity government and intelligence agencies; he's had no choice but to tow the Indian line that Pakistan is completely at fault, when he clearly knows better.

The matter is already worse, GHQ hasn't responded to serious overtures from Ghani, these proxies will be defeated on the battlefield as they are right now.

For the love of God, Talis are openly gathering and selecting their leadership, do you want the address of the madrassa in Quetta? This is the kind of response AF gets for serious and genuine overtures and killing most of the TTP thugs in AF.
GHQ AND GoP both responded very well to Ghani, let's not pretend that it was Pakistan's fault that relations degraded. Ghani's lack of power projection within Kabul itself, and the fact that the unity government has constantly been at the brink of collapse, is evidence enough that Pakistan has no real partner to show solidarity with. After all, it has been the Afghan side that has sabotaged negotiations twice, and ended any real chances of peace.

Pakistan is once again trying to restart talks, for the sake of peace, but I expect this to be the last attempt. Pakistan's civil and military is getting impatient, as evidenced by the Torkham gate incident. If Afghanistan or the US sabotage this final attempt, Pakistan will likely unilaterally act and seal the border completely, like it has with Torkham.

You are missing the point here my friend :) Sealing the border like Torkham gate etc is not going to solve the issue when Talis are openly recruiting in Quetta, running their meetings and giving allegiances to their leader and then sending foot soldiers to fight in Afghanistan. The Burka offensive is ongoing as we speak, where is it being controlled from? Their leadership dies within hours when they cross over to Afghanistan?

Do you honestly believe with this facts on the table that any Pakistani peace initiatives is worth the minutes spent on the round table?

Pakistan must change course vis-a-vis Talis, there is no more talks as far as Afghans are concerned. These proxies will be dealt with militarily and you will feel the heat in the process in your side of the border.

In bigger scheme of things we of course both lose as we will be a shit hole for years to come but onus of all this is mostly on the GHQ and to some extent on the hawks in Kabul.

No, my point is pretty much right on the money.

But, let's ignore all that for a second, what makes you think that sealing the border is worthless? You seal the border, it doesn't matter how many people the taliban recruit, because they won't be able to cross the border easily; This would lead to a dramatic decrease in cross border terrorism and violence, which would effective kill the insurgency's safe havens on both sides.

Unfortunately, the Afghan government and elite are so blind in their hatred for Pakistan, they can't see past their own tunnel vision.

Pakistan has, multiple times, tried to bring peace; the onus is not on Pakistan. It isn't Pakistan that is sabotaging peace efforts, but we both know whom is (or rather, are).

I am all for blocking the border and mining it completely but will that change a thing I dont think so unless the policy of supporting the Talis change.

Yes some of the hawks may thrive on blame everything on Pakistan but even a sensible Pakistani would have to agree that the factories of Afghan Talis are in full swing and GHQ is supporting or turning a blind eye their activities there.

We have now peeled the onion and the anti-Pakistan efforts that we always knew about are out in the open

The report focused on the last week's meeting that included Commander Gen John Nicholson, who heads the US operations in Afghanistan, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and Defence Secretary G Mohan Kumar.

The report contended there was certainly more to the meeting which considered regional strategic issues. “This is a joint war command for deciding India’s course in the proxy war” it said.

It will change everything, because it would basically cut the insurgency's paths and supply lines

Pakistan is left with no choice but to bank on Talibans... The pro-Indian Anti-Pakistan setup in Afghanistan government can't be ignored and we can't leave our only allies in that country ..

Where would be India lay egg now, the time of examination has come now, Afghanistan would become to know their friends and enemies.
