US Funded 111 KM Road in Balochistan

Batman-slap-2.jpg

For me Indians friend who posted few days ago that USA will support Indian motive on Baluchistan...

.
They already tried that expirement. We all know the outcome.

No one is sulking. It is time to move on, but not by taking more US aid. How about standing on your own feet instead of depending on aid handouts from others? We keep crying that others have control over our destiny. They will keep having control as long as we keep depending on their aid handouts. This is not a moment to rejoice the F-16 or this road in Balochistan. This is a moment to have a critical look at our ridiculous position as an aid recipients. Instead of singing songs of others we need to remind ourselves that we are not in a pretty position when a nation that accuses our very fabric is funding our roads. Nothing adds up.
bro i am not against usa or aid if given properly but this is advertisement not aid just hogwash

The United States, through USAID, has funded the construction of 111 km needed to complete the 247 kilometer-long Kalat-#Quetta-Chaman highway. The funding of the highway is one element of a comprehensive U.S. program in #Pakistan to help restore essential public infrastructure in remote communities. This highway is a major trade route between Afghanistan and the Central Asian states. The highway also establishes a vital link between #Balochistan and the rest of Pakistan, reaching all the way to #Karachi. It is revitalizing cities and communities along the highway, expanding communication and transportation services, and improving access to basic health, education, and other social services.

It is a peanut and after destroying our road network by NATO, they come up with this tiny 111km. They have to repair whole routes destroyed by NATO containers without paying any penny (Yes it is Tax free to US Govt and tax is only for us, common people of Pakistan) . US propaganda at its best

.
I agree with you...They give AID suppose 100 usd and out of which consultation and other misc fees will be 30-40% of total cost that will be used by their own citizen who gets employed in these projects...That is why even Indian Gov is curtatiling and monitoring USAID programs more closely than before.
That is very true you know. The actual amount disbursed is very ess than the original stated

.
Now that is constructive.

Sorry, contrary to the popular belief, disbursement of US aid is closely monitored by American authorities and cannot be easily misused. You can even report fraudulent activities to them, should they occur.

There is a reason why Pakistani politicians are not keen to consider USAID for funding various projects in Pakistan; they cannot make much profits from them. I know this from professional exposure and relevant contacts.

Lol, what a surprise. Corruption tainting charitable causes as well. These politicians are as toxic as they come.

. .
You are probably affiliated with USAID and hence are not in a position to criticize their malpractice. Anyone who has read dozens of reports on USAID throughout the years knows that their projects are marred by corruption and politics. This is common knowledge. Even non partisan American institutes who carried out studies on USAID have acknowledged this fact.

I'm not spreading propaganda. I'm just pointing out the facts. The US also financed the fake vaccination program of Shakil Afridi to get to OBL. USAID is another American tool to further their interests. Your denial won't change this fact, but you are already aware of this fact.

Read the following "propaganda" by NY Times:

In Pakistan, U.S. Aid Agency’s Efforts Face Skepticism

My friend, may I know your profession? Since you do not have any kind of working association with USAID agency, you don't understand how it works. You are likely to suspect its motives as an outsider and your sources of information are articles and reports that do not encompass entire ground realities in their evaluation.

Please keep in mind that the insight you get from professional experience is invaluable.

The greatest challenge that USAID agency faces in any Pakistani project is its stringent evaluation principles (some information here: https://www.usaid.gov/evaluation) which makes Pakistani stakeholders uncomfortable (because they desire greater autonomy in decision-making, commissions and cannot get away with do-numbri) and therefore USAID based funding option is often discouraged. Another issue is bureaucratic hurdles that render the whole exercise useless. I experienced all of this first hand in my case. On top of the above, Anti-American sentiments and/or lack of trust do not help anybody.

More importantly, you don't understand how firms are chosen for work in Pakistan. As I pointed out earlier, mainly those firms are preferred which are willing to compromise on their principles a bit and are more accepting of commissions that will go into pockets of stakeholders involved. This is how our politicians profit from various projects in Pakistan and why such projects become controversial and do not meet deadline for completion. Firms are hardly chosen on the basis of merit. In the nutshell, politicians and bureaucrats profit from Anti-American sentiments in these matters.

Shall I cite examples? Pakistani society is mired in corruption. Stop blaming foreign entities for all the ills in the country.

Good Sir,

Not just the politicians but Thekedars and others.

A main road near my home is under construction for 2 years in spite of full payment. Doesn't takes a genius to figure out the issue. :)

So who is going to pay the labor cost? You?

Ever seen a Planning Commission Report?

If you ask about India, of course India is discouraging this kind of aid, rather arrnaging resources internally.. Now, it is your country, if your Gov is fine, you can go ahead get it.
