Thanks for the background. Didn't know there were widespread tension amongst the ethnic Chinese Muslim communities. I had a Hui Muslim colleague, she wasn't fond of Uighurs at all. Never asked why, but I guess this explains a bit.

During WW2, a Hui warlord ruled Xinjiang. Because Uighurs have a larger population than Hui, the Hui warlord killed many Uighurs. So the two nations really hate each other.

And other Muslim ethnic groups in Xinjiang usually believe that Hui is the dominant Muslim in Xinjiang, even the main representative of China Muslims. But Uighurs do not agree.

Moreover, the Hui and Han have lived together for more than a thousand years, and the relationship between the two nationalities is very good. The Uighur separatist organization slandered the Hui nationality as a traitor to Muslims.

You confuse Uighurs with Uighur separatists. The former is a part of us, and the latter is our enemy.

2. The contradictions between Uighurs and Han people are actually the least (the Han people are concentrated in the north of Xinjiang, far away from the south where Uighurs are concentrated). On the contrary, there are more contradictions between Uighurs and other ethnic groups. These nationalities are all Muslims.

3. Now all Uighur separatist organizations in China have been eliminated.
And it was with the support of the Uighurs that the Uighur fighters wiped out the Uighur separatist organization. It took only four years for the Chinese government to completely eliminate terrorist organizations.
You should know that we can't do it without the support of local people. How long does it take other countries to eliminate terrorist organizations?
