chinese, italians, persians...all the historical peoples speak of cyclic imperial history because we have history and know its forces. american state is too young (and the indian state even younger), its empire still younger; they don't even have the whole art of government thing that eurasian peoples have to deal with the rises and falls in history. when the cycle catches up with the juveniles, they will be intellectually completely naked and powerless in its face. that is what separates old world politics and new world politics.
