‘Children killed on spot, woman’s legs torn off’: Afghan witnesses say 10 killed in US airstrike
“Moscow never hastened the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. But since the US Army [campaign] there has come to nothing, let them leave Afghanistan,” Kabulov said.

“The American campaign in Afghanistan has failed. Afghanistan risks becoming a global incubator of international terrorism. It has, in fact, already partially grown to become it,” Kabulov added.

Russia strongly opposes the American idea to replace the regular US Army in Afghanistan with military contractors.

“The US is in despair, and plans to replace the professional armed forces with mercenaries are stupid. It will not lead to anything good: mercenaries will simply break into a run. They recruit them from around the world, offering cash. How are they going to fight against the Taliban?” the diplomat wondered.

The US Department of Defense has spent more than $76 billion on weapons and equipment for the Afghan security forces since 2002, the US Government Accountability Office said last week.

Washington has paid for 600,000 weapons, including rifles and pistols, for the Afghan Army and police, the GAO report, released on Thursday, said.

The key equipment provided included 163,000 tactical and non-tactical radios; 76,000 vehicles, such as Humvees; 30,000 equipment items for disposing of explosives, such as bomb disposal robots; and 16,000 equipment items for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, such as unmanned surveillance drones, just to name a handful.

The report came as President Donald Trump said he is “very close” to announcing a new strategy on Afghanistan.

“It’s a very big decision for me,” he told reporters in Bedminster on Thursday.

“I took over a mess,” Trump said, “and we’re going to make it a lot less messy,” he added.

US wants an increase in troops in Afghanistan
Calling the situation in Afghanistan a “stalemate,” Army General John Nicholson told the US Senate Armed Services Committee earlier this year that while he has enough troops for counterterrorism operations against the likes of the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and Islamic State, he would like several thousand more in order to boost the capabilities of the Afghan security forces.

Nicholson said troop injections could come from the US military or NATO nations.

“I have adequate resourcing in my counterterrorism mission,”Nicholson said in February.

"But the train, advise and assist mission has a shortfall of a few thousand troops,” he added, noting that the extra troops could come from the United States and its allies, many of whom are fighting in Afghanistan.

Nicholson said that offensive capability would eventually “break the stalemate in Afghanistan,” but it would also require an increase in troops stationed in Afghanistan in order to adequately train Afghan forces, Nicholson noted, specifically calling for increased funding for Afghanistan’s air force.

The US has spent more than $780 billion in Afghanistan since 2001, according to the National Priorities Project (NPP), with the research tank saying that “every hour, taxpayers in the United States are paying $4 million” for the war in Afghanistan.

We should leave Afghanistan immediately. No more wasted lives. If we have to go back in, we go in hard & quick. Rebuild the US first.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) 1 марта 2013 г.
From 2001 to mid-2016, around 173,000 civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan have died amid the American-led war, according to the Costs of War Project. More than 183,000 civilians have been seriously wounded in that time.

“We should leave Afghanistan immediately. No more wasted lives. If we have to go back in, we go in hard & quick. Rebuild the US first,” Trump tweeted in 2013.

About 8,400 US troops and 6,400 NATO soldiers remain in Afghanistan following the large-scale NATO troop reduction in 2014. US-led forces entered Afghanistan to end Taliban control more than 15 years ago, following the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks.

Only Russia wont Change anything, China, Pakistan and Iran have to stand united if they really want withdraw of US from their backyard.

The US is too arrogant and obstinate to withdraw from Afghanistan because of failure to achieve a single strategic objective of Afghanistan military campaign. Moreover, none in US is ready to bear the burn of officially withdrawing from Afghanistan. Now the Blackwater's Eric Prince want US to handover Afghanistan to them to run as a colony whose actual purpose to promote and control the drug trade from Afghanistan.

The solution is that US must be ejected from Afghanistan by the cooperation of neighboring countries to bring stability in the region and prevent Afghanistan to become breeding ground to terrorist factions like ISIS

Ermm.. Repeat as many times you want but we don't see afganisthan campaign as failure. We have taken down terrorists - Mullah Omar, Laden and no-one talks today of al-qaeda anymore.

It is almost gone from the face of the earth.

And last of all Russia pointing US about it's failure in Afganisthan ? What has the world come to

We don't have Al-qeada bla bla

USA's government is Al-qaeda and why not, we have Al-qaeda in a world scale and it's among your leadership.

And guess what, we will force your troops to leave just like Iraq. You will leave while carrying the dead bodies of your invader soldiers.

To some limits i agree

NON Muslim countries should have no place in the future of a Muslim country. I was a reporter of that news and be sure i don't want any foreign presence in Afghanistan neither in other Muslim countries.

Don't forget, around Syria Muslim governments gave the opportunity of occupation to USA and it's lap dog. I'm not happy with other kinds of foreign presence in there. Hope you get my point.

We , Muslim countries , already have the capacity of being independent states and supporting each other.

USA is a worm, all of Muslim nations need an anti virus!

Why do you think they do not achieve their strategic objectives?
1. They control the world market of opium and heroin - cash and control of large part of criminals in Asia and Europe.
2. The military presence itself in backyard of Russia and China - diversion of significant resources of strategic rivals to counteract in the vital region of Asia (for America itself there are no vitally important interests here).
3. Unlimited and uncontrolled training of terrorists (I think everyone here understands who is training the officers and generals of Al Qaeda / ISIS) - Russia slowed down US plans to transform the Middle East / Islamic world, but did not stop them completely.
4. Afghanistan is the most important landfill for testing new weapons and new combat tactics.
I think there are more of them. You can continue the list.

Yes, for now Americans have control on all above mentioned 4 points.

But

1. Were Americans able to create a stronghold in Afghanistan for next 100 years?
No. They have lost the Afghan campaign spectacularly and even blind can see that now.

2. Were Americans able to De-Nuclarize Pakistan?
No, they can't even get a single bit of info about nuclear infrastructure of Pakistan no matter how hard they tried.

3. Do Americans able to Balkanize Pakistan like Yugoslavia as per their proposed 2001 plan?
No, Americans failed miserably; rather Pakistan is the only country in the entire world who has successfully fought back the menace of terrorism successfully and defeated the terrorists being launched from Afghanistan into Pakistan.

See American's balkanization plan for Af-Pak Region in this pic from this globalresearch.ca article

The need of the hour is that US should be ejected from Afghanistan to bring stability in the region. Afghanistan is slipping out of US's control but they are too arrogant to acknowledge that.

My friend. All American wants there is to spread chaos and earn money on opium and terrorism. That is all. So it is really hard to fail.

In your opinion, if its hard to fail in spreading chaos and trade drugs, Why, do you think, even Russians are openly citing their opinion that US campaign has failed in Afghanistan?

BTW, i respect Russian opinion in this regard because of their experience of military campaign in Afghanistan.

Of course, they do not say openly that they came to Afghanistan to trade heroin and train terrorists. Even the British did not openly say that they want to take all the silver of China in exchange for opium.

You have first hand knowledge of drug trade in Moscow.Heroin in rampant over there,it travel's straight from Afghanistan to CAR States and reaches Russian.
There are three Routes.
1)Balkan Route:
Route from Iran to Turkey and then Europe it's total share is 10 to 15 percent.
2)Pakistan Route:
Route from Pakistan, which leads to multiple Ports and Airports, trafficking is around 40% on that route.
3)Central Asian Route:
Route which passes through Central Asian states and then enters into Europe and Russia. Around 45 to 50 percent trafficking is carried using that route.
It must be noted that, countries situted on these Roads are worst hit by that Curse.
Number of drug users in Russia surges every year, since start of WOT started.
It's high time that we should control it for our greater good.
Cooperation between Russia and Pakistan has increased in following years for fighting this mence through UNODC.
Russian Government has helped Pakistan alot in that cause, through training of officials and funding of drug seizure operation.

.
US want chaos to justify their presence in backyard of China, Russia, Pakistan and Iran.. they have nothing to do with stabilization of Afghanistan, that was never their aim.

Russia offered assistance in liquidation of poppy fields, but Americans rejected.

Entirely disagree. US was entirely successful. The problem US has got into is "mission creep". You go in to do one thing, then when you have done that, you end getting pulled into doing another, then another and before you know it your lost in a maze.

If you go back to 2001 I distinctly remember US was only about OBL. Everything else was incidental. If you don't believe me go back to the period before invasion of Afghanistan and you will see it was all about OBL. However after having killed OBL US has gotten into more and more complicated fudgy mission. So now there is no more metric of success because what is the goal now? We have no idea because clearly it has shifted since 2001. So if the goalpost continously changes how do you know the score? You can't even tell if you have scored !
