US bid to put Pakistan on global terror watch-list fails

Then you arent even aware of rohani visit to india and his deals. If you have some little time watch the news or links related to chahbehar which already posted in defence thread. And by the way indians are not constructing port for iranians they are constructing port for thier own interests, But intention of both partners does not seem well to its neighbour.

Im aware of his visit and his retarded statement about supporting india on veto...

Apart from that its all business.. even KSA signed a defence pact with india ....

Its all diplomacy.. economic muscle helps too.

As for Chabahar... read again.. its not an indian port.. but yes.. indians will be facilitated ... as I said .. its simple economics ...

If Pakistan had a fast growing economy... we would have found alot of things simpler..

Deccan chronicle is a B grade newspaper. And even they themselves are using the word 'purportedly' meaning they can't confirm it themselves.
WSJ is far more reliable and they confirmed only three countries temporarily stalled the move- Turkey, Saudi, China.
WSJ itself is a little known web portal.

Wait saudi is helping pakistan and iran leases chahbehar to indians? Kiya ye khula tazad nahi?

It is not the first time pakistan send its troop to saudi arbia.

You do not understand the great game played by US.

First, Pakistan was not willing to send military to SA led war as it believed taking sides in the war will be against its national interest and took a neutral diplomatic stance.

Second, after economic pressure from US, Pakistan accepted SA offer and accepts to send military under the interpretation of protecting SA.

US achieved what it wanted, best boots of Asia is been footing in for SA and will take part in that war, normal soldier will toil, whereas, Pakistan elite will earn $$ win win for them where as common man will suffer.

Washington: China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, three close allies of Pakistan, have joined hands to block a move by the Trump administration to place Islamabad on an international terror-financing watch list, a US media report said on Thursday.

While Pakistan has claimed a victory of sorts, the US was working behind the scenes during the ongoing Paris meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to take action against the country which it believes has not acted against terrorist financing and the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

The Wall Street Journal which first reported about the development said this was one of the “rare disagreements” between Saudi Arabia and the administration of President Donald Trump. Saudi Arabia, it said was acting on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The report said the US is still trying for the FATF to take a decision on this by Thursday.

Pakistan claimed on Wednesday that it had foiled US-led efforts to place it on a terror financing watch-list after the country was granted a three-month reprieve by the Paris-based international watchdog FATF.

The FATF, a global body that combats terrorist financing and money laundering, met in Paris amid reports that the US with support of some European allies was trying to place Pakistan on a list of countries that financially support terrorism.

“The officials said the US effort, which included pressure on the Saudis, raised the possibility of a fresh vote on action against Pakistan as soon as Thursday. The Pakistanis were scrambling to shore up support,” the WSJ report said.

Noting that the Trump administration is angry with Pakistan's inadequate efforts to combat terror groups, the daily said the US has sought to ratchet up pressure on Islamabad.

Last month, it froze some USD 2 billion in security assistance to Pakistan. The US says Pakistan is not taking action against terror groups like the Haqqani network and the Taliban. Islamabad has denied those allegations.

China, Pakistan's all-weather ally, has repeatedly blocked efforts by India, the US and the UK to designate JeM chief Masood Azhar a terrorist under the Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee.

Pakistan being added to the “list of countries deemed 'high risk' for doing too little to curb terror financing,” would have a financial implication for the country.

As a result of this inclusion, banks, other lenders and international companies seeking to do business with Pakistan could rethink financial ties, putting a damper on its already struggling economy, the daily said.
The FATF meeting is expected to continue till Friday.

On Wednesday, US state department spokesperson Heather Nauert said the FATF is expected to take a decision by today on adding Pakistan to the 'grey list' of countries not doing enough to comply with terrorist-funding regulations.

people underestimate how much power does GCC hold
its of paramount importance that we have very strong relationship with key powers including, china, Turkey and GCC...our relationship has suffered in last 10 years we must not let it slip further

relationship should be strong enough for them t support us even if it against their interest..this is one example, usually no body votes against such a strong US pushes(as apparent by all other states, including other Muslim countries)

to me this is isnt a major thing, we were on the list till 2015 more for money laundering reasons than anything else but it reflects what might happen if we are not active as india is on our foreign affair front

i would praise our PM for being intelligent, he seems ot be much better than his predecessor

chabahar is going to be Indian military post..a big stab for us and alarming point as well

Iran has unlike Pakistan never allowed foriegn military on their soil.

P.S; Chabahar is still nowhere.. it would be decades for it to become a solid competitor for Gwadar.

it would be decades for it to become a solid competitor for Gwadar..but it would right..

India/rest of the world consider a Chinese operated port as military outpost but we dont consider an indain port as a military output..i hope our military isnt this stupid

the reason iran has allowed indian investment is to keep pakistan threatened that if pakistan sides with saudia ,iran will allow indian vessels to use it against pakistan. Even besides that jadevs company operated from that port. Even now indian presence and 18 months lease if chahbahar to indians isnt a good news for pakistan. If chahbahar currently is so small and insignificant then how at this moment its going to economically uplift irans economy at some magical level.

Also iranians are proven back stabber which they also proved in nuclear centrifuge scandal, then came their yadev, then their military chiefs and mps constant warnings against Pakistan.
Anyways, i hope our intel agencies remain vigilant. Ironically very cleverly the whole media coverage and press propaganda has been started against just 1000 troops deployment in saudia where endless speculation articles are penned magnifying it as some seriously bad matter whilst no one is focussing on rouhanis current visit to india ,his statements made there and then chahbahar lease agreement. tho i agree we arent milking arab cow as we should and mostly money goes in rich generals and politicians pockets. Plus arabs always set a small price tag for south asians for them best thing is gori chamri.

Kuch kaho tau u will be labelled wahabbi or i think another word sufli? something tho i dont even know whats is sufli.

Good, how about pakistan starts putting up their own measures by hiking up transport and logistics costs for US supply routes to begin with

Pakistan needs to be very clear here. If the US, France, Germany and others try placing Pakistan on this list there will be repercussions. Start by overcharging for supply routes. Enough of this blackmail.

3 days of mourning in India and Thier media channels

The Indians and their American counterparts have tried tooth and nail to spread false propaganda against Pakistan. This should unequivocally set the record straight. There is absolutely no room for any cooperation with these countries. The Americans will soon find out that their actions have pushed Pakistan even further away. The Americans are extremely desperate in Afghanistan and such desperate measures prove exactly how desperate. In a way I'm glad this whole episode has unfolded over the past few days. It should wake up the few aman ki asha supporters. We need such dramatic jolts to separate myth from reality. To separate friend from foe.

The crux of the whole story is that America has proved it is an enemy of the people and nation of Pakistan. It seeks to harm Pakistan's economy and its people's wellbeing. It is willing to go to any extent to please India. We won't forget. These hateful actions by the Americans will have an everlasting impact.
