US Ambassador meets Pakistan Air Force Chief to discuss the F-16 programme

Or other sources.. the question is of ensuring that they can be upgraded.

Norwegian vipers, and other EU air forces are seeking replacement. How big of a fuss is the diplomatic approvals for MLU upgrades if we buy from other sources?

None... and a LOT.
The Indian lobby literally works day and night.. in its effort to ensure that even the smallest grain of rice or fuel does not reach Pakistan easily.. so imagine their efforts when it comes to weapons.

Because the PAF did not exactly buy them with cold hard cash. Thy are part of some aid package.

Having lost almost US$ 80 Billion ever since this WoT was imposed upon us by the US and her puppets, one would think that we would not have to pay cold hard cash for a lot of things, wishful thinking on our part......yet, people are so darned stupid that they cannot understand simple statistics!!

But failure of India, Pakistan keeps receiving US aid.

And da US aid goes into the corrupt polticians pocket & swiss bank account not in the hands of regular Pakistanis

Pakistan doesnt need US aid, anymore than India needs British aid :hitwall:

Too much string attached, can't operate the F16 fleet willingly.

That is the reason we initiated the JFT programme in the first place ... :) Vipers do not interest us at all now , even if allow the sale of BlK 60 ...

For god sake this program is more then a decade old now! get the blank over with it! looks like the first pakistani F-16 pilot's grand son will also fly the same plane.

Why not J-10b?
Why buy such sanction prone planes?
Oscar said there is some problem in payment of soft loans too.

Or may be PAF isn't satisfied with J-10B.

Upgraded where? In US? If that happens good luck if they don't freeze the return of those F-16's. Pakistan should limit the F-16 program for now, best to move onto a new platform, one that is non-US.

Other options available JF-17 II or J-10B.

when you depend on USA they will not give you any thing but when you will leave them they will offer you many things to make you their addicted same thing here....
we got block 52+ when we were having JF-17 and J-10B....
i suppose some newer deals will be offered soon to keep Pakistan reliance on USA....
i hope if we are offered AWACS planes we will get 1-5....
more C-130 will be welcomed but this will take time.....
atleast till 2020+

Becasue this platform wss inducted a long time ago, maintenance setup is already there (no extra time or expense for new setup), fighter's use strategy in various roles is already in place, trained drivers are already available, technical staff is available, weapons are already available, integrated and tested, etc., etc., and all these things make it a lot more cost effective and efficient than inducting a new platform like J-10B, even if that costs less per unit.

Inducting a new platform is effective only when inducted in large numbers, inducting 100 J-10B's would make sense, but if we are looking at only 14-20 jets, then going with Falcons is wiser and gives more bang for the buck.
