US airdrops supplies in east Afghanistan

In other words, if all the supplies were coming from the NDN & none from Pakistan, then Pakistan wouldn't be in the WOT. Which would be a good thing for Pakistan. Or a bad thing? As I see it, Pakistan wants (& Pakistanis want) to get out of the WOT. Decreasing the US & NATO Forces dependency on Pakistan's supply routes should be a good thing for Pakistan then.

Pakistan claims that it wants out of WoT.. Lets see how this plays out in reality. plus there is the issue of terrorists being found within the boundaries of Paksitan..

Everyone underestimates our airdrop capabilities.

The C-130 Hercules, operated by its crew from the 451st Air Expeditionary Wing at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, airdropped 18,000 pounds of fuel to Oklahoma Army National Guard Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry, using the Joint Precision Airdrop System while high above the reach of enemy weapons.

Dropped at 17,000 feet, the AGU navigated the bundles to the center of the drop zone.Utilizing airdrops with the GPS-guided parachutes allows us that avenue to use in case we can't get resupplied by helicopters or vehicles by the road, which is a typical case come winter.

Of course Pakistan wants to get out of the WOT! The cost of the WOT (significantly higher than the 'aid' Pakistan has received), & the security deterioration in the region has negatively impacted Pakistan & its economy. Pakistan wants to have the end game in Afghanistan ASAP, & not have things hanging in the air as they are right now, it is not good for the region.

About the issue of terrorists found within the boundaries of Pakistan, Pakistan has been conducting many successful operations against them, which has resulted in a significant decrease in violence in Pakistan, & a decrease of cross border terrorism from the Pakistani side as well. Cross border terrorism from Afghanistan into Pakistan has increased significantly, & not enough has been done from the Afghan side of the border.

As it is, if the US & NATO Forces were to leave Afghanistan as it is now without the end-game in Afghanistan, Pakistan would surely face challenges, but would be content in coming up with a solution that brings peace in Afghanistan. So Pakistan definitely wants out of this war.

More specifically the costs and efficiency. It's almost like comparing a duo core processor to that of a single core. Which one will deliver more in terms of input and output?

Yes but see for how long you can sustain. Typical yankee attitude.[B/]

The Pakistani Army does air maintenance of posts in Baltistan area of hundreds of posts all winter long for almost 4-6 months per annum. In addition there are numerous CASEVAC sorties flown too in addition to few communications and WASO sorties .. so whats the difference if the US is doing for a couple of posts?

Pakistan with its meagre resources and poor economic state can afford, am sure the US economy even now is a thousand times much better off than the Pakistani economy ....

So cause celebre has no real basis

I think Chinese are speaking two languages, on one hand they blamed Uighur militants linked to Al-Qaida and don't want US abrupt withdrawal from Afghanistan in fear that it will spill in Xinjiang. But they are also showing their support to Pakistan and abusing US

The Chinese are stationing their troops in Pakistani side of Kashmir for buffering the security of the said province ....

True. But India and Pakistan have been doing air maintenance for years for hundreds of post all through winters. So the argument is redundant about viability of US approach.

What's there to bluff?

Simple equation. While you may have majority of groups under your control, still there are plenty which take Pakistan as being too moderate and free and want to send it back to stoneage by imposing their own version of islam. So you do have to contend with these.

And they have access to both arms and war like stores .....!

That's not the point. The point is cost and efficiency. When you have access from all channels (land, sea and air) you are likely to get things in and out faster and balance out the cost. When you are restricted to air, then the outcome would be obvious.

A single air-drop of fuel can keep a base going throughout the winter. Its pretty efficient if you ask me.

Pretty silly trying to convince us, we wish you all the best in going your own way and we our own way, you can't use our airspace to make these drops though, you should go through Russia

The NATO does NOT use pakistani supply routes to transport lethal or high priority equipment. There are alternate options.

Minus Russian routes... yes the only alternative would still be by air.
