Urdu Exiled, Welcome Hindi

hindus are over 70% in the state. Tell me if you hate tmc so much then why you guys vote for them?

She is through with election if she gets 30% muslim votes as a block and 10% of others votes... That's her calculation. Bengal was not communal, but she is only making sure that it becomes communal.

hindus majority ekhane so if they don't have consensus which party they prefer then how is that our fault. Use your majority position wisely

I didn't say it's your fault, it's her fault. Only problem is that she is making Bengal communally divided again apart from ruining its economy, and that will hurt you too. Have you seen so many riots before she came to power, do you think it's good?

How is she making us "communally divided"? And about riots, well people here still haven't seen real riots, like ones in Muzaffarnagar and Gujarat. Those you have mentioned are just minor communal disturbances, bound to happen. Its quite clear BJP wants to cleanse India of Muslims, Christians because of that "hindutva" thingy. So its obvious we won't support them. Except of course people like Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi who only care about power. Earlier our votes used to go mostly to the Congress now its shifted to tmc. Your Bangladeshi Hindu brothers do block voting for AL there its the same thing. They want their interests to be secured. Same for us. And TMC much better than CPM. Remember 90% of wb hindu votes went to tmc when they first came to power. We didn't bring them to power you did. You are in clear majority you can bring any party you prefer to power here. It shouldn't be a problem

How is she making us "communally divided"?

Cross-posting from another thread:

Communal politics was not a part of West Bengal politics, previous governments had their fault, but never played communal politics so blatantly, nor previous governments were so corrupt, corruption in West Bengal politics was never an issue. You guys blame BJP for communal cards, but they can't even dream of doing things that didi does, which certainly vitiates the communal fabric of Bengal. Take some examples:

1. She announced monthly salary for Imam and Moyajjen (not sure if the term) in all mosques, no other religion gets such benefits.

2. She announced scholarships for Muslim students only, students of other religions don't get it, it's not that in a village non-muslim students are financially any better than muslim students.

3. She wanted to do a hospital for muslims only, then there were some protests, people questioned if a hindu and a muslim going together meet with an accident near that hospital, should the hindu be left to die? We don't have the luxury of plenty of options in hospitals in rural areas. She had to postpone the ridiculous plan till she finds the answer.

4. She started a special Eid bonus for muslim state government employees, that means they earn more compared to the employees of other religions for the same job. Nothing creates more divide than money.

5. She also distributes special subsidized Eid food package from ration shops, there is no such package for any other religion.

6. Muslims who died during Haj yatra got 10 lakh compensation from her government, martyred soldiers of our state got 2 lakh, any Hindu dying during Amarnath yatra would get nothing.

7. Durga Puja bisarjana dates coincide with Eid almost every year, so she has barred all Durga Puja bisarjana during 1 or 2 days of Eid. That's directly interfering with one religion against the other.

8. There were at least a couple of incidents that got reported in the media where she has closed down or banned Durga Puja because of the protests of local muslims there. This year just a few days ago a 65 years old Saraswati Puja in a school was stopped on local muslims' demand, and her police has brutally beaten up minor girl students demanding continuation of their puja.

9. She panders to the radicals among the Muslim community, she has nominated a banned Muslim radical group SIMI's ex-operative as Rajya sabha MP in spite of objections from IB and home ministry, one shahi Imam of WB has enough say in the government, he is someone who would do Osama-prayer and prayer for that Mumbai bombing terrorist.

10. She gives a free hand to every demand of radical Muslims, they wanted to ban a women's football tournament, she allowed the ban. They would prevent any supposedly anti-muslim writer like Rushdie or Nasrin to enter West Bengal and hold protest, she would agree. Very recently she has banned a seminar with some international guests where Pakistan & Balochistan issue was a topic...she banned it to safeguard 'muslim sentiment'!!

11. She apparently has given instructions to the police to not touch any Muslim during any law & order issue, heck, they don't even catch muslim bikers without helmet! So police just stood there, as seen in the video footages, when muslim radicals were recently burning down the hindu homes in Dhulagarh in a rampage. Because of this police inaction there were many communal incidents during last year's Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Jagadhatri puja in Chandannagar. In fact communal incidents in West Bengal has increased many folds since didi took charge as per the national crime reports, we never had so many riots before.

Secularism is anything but pandering to one religion over others. She is doing everything to ensure that people turn against each other, just to secure some muslim votes. You will see many WB muslims are very happy with her, but they are missing the bigger picture.

Are you really from West Bengal? Because CPM used to get most of the Muslim votes earlier in Bengal.

Btw, how come your dialect is Bangladeshi, you didn't answer?

You must be joking, cause Congress got like 80% of the Muslim votes here until the last decade, most of them from Murshidabad and Maldah. Listen you don't know anything about our community's voting preferences. You vote for whomever you want its a hindu majority state so stop crying.

And I talk like that with Muslim Bengalis. My family's from Maldah. Of course I can speak the "standard" dialect but I don't out of personal preference. My wish

Congress's Adhir Choudhury and previously Gani Khan Choudhury had good hold in these two districts, what about the other districts?

Besides, I just asked where you are from originally.

Apart from writing style of alphabets, there is little difference between spoken Urdu and spoken Hindi. Our people learn only the spoken Hindi. It means that if we can speak in Hindi, we can also then speak in urdu.

you have hurt feelings of lot of pakistanis.... for them urdu is closer to arabic and persian than to hindi... :)
reality is, people on the street speak hindustani... which is sprinkled with arabic and persian origin words.

The idea that urdu is more islamic than bengali(or punjabi) was not good enough to be accepted by whole of population of pakistan, it's clear. They could have just waited for acceptance of urdu by bengalis instead of imposing it. By trade/education/contact it would have organically found itself acceptable to bengalis anyway.
Its one of the northern Indian language, not exactly tamil... bengalis can learn just by watching tv.
We too tried imposing hindi on tamil people with disastrous consequence.

And They think Throwing few Arabic and Persian words in the mix makes the language holier than Bengali :hitwall:
Bengali itself is full of words from Hindi, Urdu, Persian and as well as Arabic. Every one has his own definition of the language we call Bengali. But, like all other languages of the world it is also a mix of words from many languages, and no one really knows which are the real Bengali words.

Urduwala Pakistanis may think on the line that you have said. When it is only 7% of population in Pakistan are native speakers of Urdu, but, suddenly, President Ayub Khan introduced a fully Persian National anthem for the entire Pakistan, which people of west could not understand. For east, it was worse than learning Greek. However, similar things are happening in BD today. Some people try to tie Bengali only with Sanskrit and throw out all the non-Sanskrit words in the name of Bhasha Andoloner Chetona.

Pure Urdu when spoken is completely different from Hindi. It is highly Persianized and Arabized to the extent that it only retains the sanskrit verb roots (90% of Urdu verbs are of sanskrit origin). For example, "Places" in English translates to "jagahon/jagahen" in colloquial Hindustani which is a mix of Urdu and Hindi, but in pure Urdu viz the highly Persianized form, it becomes "maqamat". People who speak only Hindi won't be able to understand a lot of what's being said on Urdu news channels and other media.

If anything - Hindi speakers should be learning Bangla. If they don't then why should we learn theirs? South Indians absolutely refuse to communicate in Hindi - and they are in India itself.

Only when within Tamil Nadu, sir. Not outside.

In fact, Tamils being one of our smartest countrymen (just see how many top industry leaders and scholars are from the state :) ) and adapt to everything very well.

The Indian society in general has had it pretty open.

In fact, north Indians feel a little taken aback that other Indians know more languages than they who only know Hindi and English.

There were agitations and demonstrations but those were because Indira was trying to do a Mao Ze Dong when it came to enforcing language, which is wrong. However, after the emergency period, India learnt a new lesson that we are not a country that can get things done by forcing it down people's throats.
