Unfair tax by PIA

PIA is one of the nastiest airlines I have ever flown. Overcrowded as hell. Aunties just walking around in the plane, hostesses don't give two shits, trash everywhere, non stop crying babies, disgusting bathrooms, delayed flights, I WILL NEVER fly PIA again.

wow. how the hell did you get that discount? me and my mother flew from karachi to doha on aug 15, and we had to pay a tax of rs 950 PER PERSON.
someone stop this NS guy from becoming PM man!

I think it depends on the destination you are travelling to... I actually heard different rates from somewhere but I decided to write the unfair tax charged to one of my fellow passenger who paid 300 rupees only.

PIA usually did this in lieu of changing exchange rates.

But it is just BS. You've already paid for the ticket so there's no dues on you. Changing exchange rates are PIA issues, not passengers' headache.

This is why people prefer other airlines. PIA overcharges and under-delivers. Why would any sane person pay to fatten those golus at the top?

Recommendation: Fly Emirates, nothing beats its rates for the wonderful service they provide.

PIA management really needs to introspect. In my own lifetime i've seen the quality of service go down and seen these Gulfy air lines shit on us by offering more for less. Excellent service, and competent staff.

Sad thing - we trained all those airlines too.....taught their pilots how to fly, taught them ground services, techie services etc. Now they've surpassed us by decades

There is a need to clean this stupid corruption habits that are eating Pakistan inside out!

Just now I paid this Airport Tax at Alma Iqbal International Airport.
The behavior of the officer was very strange. First he asked me 1000 Pakistan Rupee per person. But I was having only RS.2980.
He took them but when I asked about the invoice, he started drama etc.
But I kept insisting for the invoice. After waisting a lot of time he gave me money back and told me to pay to cashier.
Surprisingly, cashier took only RS.2850.
Really, I felt very bad about that situation.
Just want to inform all to must ask them about invoice.
As the airport officers are playing with innocent people.
Even, when I tried to register complain, they told me that it will be useless.

Further to my last thread The economic terrorism policies of Punjab Government I would like to ask one more question to my fellow friends.

I recently travelled from London to Lahore via Karachi. In Karachi we had a stay of approximately 8 hours. Many of the passengers were travelling to Islamabad or Lahore via Karachi. Once we got the luggage at Karachi Airport and went in the cue for booking luggage for Lahore flight, some of us were asked to pay "additional taxes" of 300 rupees before they are allowed to board the next flight.

My question to my Noon League friends is, what kind of law is this when you have already been charged all the taxes before hand and you have already completed half of your journey before you are forced to pay more taxes or else you are stranded at Karachi Airport?

Could you please provide a reason for that?

I wasn't charged anything at all but for example I met a guy who came with me in the same flight and was supposed to travel with me to Lahore together, he was forced to pay additional taxes at Karachi airport for completing his other half of journey. I later heard from many people about the same so-called "additional taxes" complaint. Imagine if you don't have money in your pocket? Are you not stranded... How does PIA justify this stupid act of overcharging its customers?

I have a feeling that those members holding foreign passport were not charged additional taxes and those holding Pakistani passport were forced to pay additional taxes but I am sure not about that.

I will say it's your fault. We never fly on PIA. I wish we could because I will really like to give my money to Pakistan than giving it to Arabs but the trouble you have to go through even after paying more is really not worth it. I have a huge family and we don't travel through PIA. My dad always talk about the PIA of 70 and 80s and how it was simply the best, but when you corrupt people from PM to a chaprasi this is what happens. Again I always tell people flying with PIA is inviting trouble.

Airport tax
Can somebody told me how 950 pak rupees comes up for Airport. Tax because we are German national(I and my 5 family members) but i have origion Form Pakistan, Holding German Passport we buy the Tickets on 14 july and i flew back on 04 09 2015.
And i pay for whole Of my family 6 persons
5700 pak rupee.
Which is for me strange.

They are calling it some sort of security tax. 5 layered defense around the airport that needs to be paid by overseas travelers. I do not think I had to pay it in domestic last month. Not sure if that has changed. I do not know how they do this with a straight face.

@Aether Rs.300 is for domestic, for int'l it's Rs.950 additional tax. It was implemented as of 1st Aug. and anyone flying out after that date has to pay at the airport.

It's not just PIA, although I can't stand them either. My wife had to pay at the airport, despite all taxes being included in the ticket, because she flew after 1st Aug. This tax was besides the $76.50 per head per ticket we already paid.

Last week I had to make a day trip to khi at short notice. On my way back, there was a group of 5 laborers coming back who didn't have 950/head. They would have been denied boarding had I not stepped forward, and paid for them.

Hue Cry on Airport never works. I tried once but they become dumb in front of you. Say it all because of Government. We have to follow the rule.

If there is a rule then have to follow, but I remember my tickets do include Airport Tax (like always). PS I am not traveling through PIA this time. If someone can guide me to Government rule book then it will be good. (I am trying to reduce my trips to Pakistan any ways, since it cost allot).

I was waiting for it that when someone is going to highlight it. You stopped on receiving a manual receipt though, if it was me I would have asked for a computerized receipt, with manual receipts there is still a 90% chance that this money made its way in pockets of cashier and others.

The whole FBR system is computer based now, corporations and companies / organizations don't use typewriters or manual ledgers anymore, if someone asks you people for money and that too as a Tax you have each and every write to ask them for a legal reference for it first (no tax can be charged unless it is written in law somewhere) and if you find it legal then don't accept manual receipts, computer based receipt would make it sure that your money lands where it needs to be.

P.S: Unless there is a legal reference, cursing Ganjaz for this is unjustified.
